Anyone know where I can get a rear shock for early GSXR rebuilt?

I've not used him but I keep hearing good reviews of a suspension
specialist down in Moss Street.
Even if he can't rebuild it, he should be able to point you in the right direction.

Aren't there any swop's with later models to upgrade ?
(like the Mk1 busa shock into Mk2 Bandit swop)

Karl i have just fitted a 02gsxr1000 shocky to an 88 gsxr750, i dont know if you could do the same with the slabbies but there are a couple of things to look out for when doing this conversion,

1 the spring is a larger diameter and will foul on the swing arm if not spaced out from the frame
2 once in the aircleaner cannot be fitted without undoing the top bolt in the shocky and moving it backwards to allow
room between he airbox and the shocky res
3 the battery has to be relocated, this is not as hard as it might sound, i just reversed the battery cradel so it lent the
battery away from the shocky and then relocated all the wiring.

(PLEASE NOT THAT THIS IS ONLY APPLICABLE TO AN 88-89 GSXR750 AND MAY NOT BE THE CASE WITH OTHER MODELS)

please feel free to pm me or ask any questions about this conversion i'll be happy to help if i can

Cheers for the advice 03gixxerpilot. Sounds like it might be something worth doing in the future. For now I just need a shock in the rear and might get the original one rebuilt, however I am always open to possibilities.

Bladehunter I have been toying with the idea of getting an Ohlins for a few months, there has been a few around for sale lately, Are you selling yours?

As this bike will be registered however I am building it for the drags, is there anyone here who could give me opinion/advice on the idea of simply fixing the rear end rigid with a alloy bar. I want this baby low. Already rebuilt the front forks nice and stiff and dropped it about 4 inches. Just need to fix the back now and a rigid rear sounds the go.

regards

It's a 85 GSXR750.
It runs sweet dispite its appearance when I first took procession of her. Motor was recently rebuilt and it runs fast.

One of the Brissy Busa riders had a shock modified by someone
down the Gold Coast. Had a "valve" that was given a turn with
a screwdriver and "Locked-up" the rear at the drags.
