Ok Guys. After many complaints and requests I have eventually had time to source and enable a minimum post count lock on the trading areas in the main all users forum (parts and bike sales). There is currenlty a 10 post minimum before you can post any item now.

We will see how this works for everyone and adjust accordingly if necessary.

To all those mods I have just emailed about monitoring the areas, you now have one less job!

Cheers all.

Si just a thought but after chating with Rod i recon you should make it so
you have to be a 6 month member before you can buy and sell, that way any scamers would
have given up by then but not for shop or buisness owners just a thought.

Hey Paul,
so you want to be restricted to selling your parts or bike to only members who have been on the forum for six months? Whats stopping the scammer from joining then knowing our policy, returning in half a years time to start their dodgy dealings?
cheers Rod

Hey Pab but what if it is something that you would be interested in? I am all for people saying gday before the chuck a for sale ad in, but 6 month before you can list something for sale? I love for sale ads, as I am always looking for something to buy, bring em on I say!

It's just that 10 posts doesn't take even a day I thought if they had
to wait and still set a post limit you might stop the scammers

Meh - theres ways an means around any anti scam. I reckon Si's done enough to keep the lazy ones off the site - we can't get him to hold our hand through every purchase:D If any interstator wants to buy something here in Bris and needs me to check it out I dont mind - otherwise caveat emptor

Thanks for your idea Paul. I got my Single Sider from a guy that joined up from Ben's advice and he only posted 3 times. A great guy and a good deal. With the new 10 post thing Joe Blow won't know what the post limit is (and anyway, I can adjust it at any time) and will just think he can't get his free advert and fuck off. Word of mouth visitors will know from otyer members and take the time, and also decent guys will actually take the time to look around the site and see that there is a 10 post restriction by reading posts like this one.

So far so good hey? Any complaints?

I sort of agree and disagree with the ten post idea. I am just getting back into my bikes after a 5 yr lay of due to spinal fractures cause in a road rage incident. To get back into it I have to sell one of my bikes to finance one of the others. So I guess Ill continue to post until I place an add the become a full donating member. Surely there should be a means of appealing te 10 post rule. I have a lot to offer as a bike mechanic with 15 yrs experience with specialised electrical knowledge and 30 years continual riding experience. Anyway i'll just keep on posting until I get there, and with summer looming I am sure to sell at least 1 bike and I am on my way again.

If you have so much to offer as a bike mechanic and with your specialised electrical knowledge, 10 posts should be a piece of piss. So instead of sooking about this place not being a free trading post, how about sharing some of your expertise.

Good idea. Plus if it's a scammer/timewaster people will notice as they make the 10 posts, and can head them off at the pass..

I still get the scammer bastards all the time. One tried to post up some shite about his aunty inheriting money from Africa and you could have half of it bullshit just yesterday. Started from the Z members and got to Y before he gave up. This method does work.

As for free advertising of the bikes, I have changed that to members only a while back. If you get 10 valid posts (rather than just "hello" 10 times in the intros like has been tried before) you also are regarded as a genuine member and allowed to post.
