so i have been looking for a valve spring tester on and off for a while
any of the good ones cost lots..... and while its not really a issue the cheep ones
cant handle this ex lab testing unit cam up for the same cash as a ebay cheepy's
the choice was clear.

spent some more time on the fab table, i still need to finish the electrics and hydraulics
one of the electrical jobs was to make a new safety fence to suit the new top
it needed to be light but ridged, on a job at start of the year we needed some custom roofing flashing ordered
this happened to be bundled up with it all, I really dont know how that happened....
some cutting and some pop rivets later i have a safety fence, no switches on it yet but im getting there

some more work on the safety fence, fitted the electrical switches to it on ally base plates i had siliconed on.
I copied the small ally arms and used electrical wire crimps instead of the wire crimped ones they had.
Some tig welded m6 bolts underside of the table gave me a adjustable hook point to hang the switch lines from.
In each underside corner the whole fence sits on m10 allthread that i had welded the nuts for in the very begining
when i was working on the raw table top. I always knew I would have to relieve the sheet metal to clear the removable
electrical power and control plug but I was particularly happy with the neat way it integrated into build.

so i got sick of those hard to get to places with low light you fight with when welding.
you end up trying to get a light to shine in the right spot etc.... well no more, i improvised...
one 3.3 lipro battery cell check,
one charger to suit said battery check,
one high output cre led check
one small heat sink to suit said led
one switch and plugs to allow for charging and removal check
some solder and hot glue later....
well lets just say i think this is one of my better ideas.....

also i hate the std hand piece switch found on most std tig hand pieces, so much so i riped it of ages ago and have been
only using the foot control. that is fine for std jobs but becomes a pain again in tight hard to reach places. i cant aford the
800 for the upgraded handpiece i would like so again i improvised..... small board mounted switch and some hot glue later
and im much happier

Swevel angle pallet plates for the screw jacks for the frame jig.

Problem solved while adding the added benifit of angle adjustment.
Now I just bolt to the plate what ever attachment I need at the time

Not particularly si, I have a heap of my own and more than a few of my
friends with some other interested parties. I'm guessing I will have if I decide
to go down that path. The main reason im building all this is that was just
the way I thought it should be done ( properly engineered) and I enjoy building cool stuff.
I really need to have a chat to you one day about some of my plans for the future if I go that way.
Ben has shown how hard it is to make a living out of this type stuff and to be honest he is better
at it than me,
I should mention that some of my designs are geared towards some of the more extreme projects
I hope to be doing, widening frames, cut and shuts, motor changes etc. should work in the same vain
as the drag bike build. That was were I proved to myself I was on the right path

So Jason and I spent some time sipping beer tonight and worked on the stance and what arm to use in my dans efe. Part of the idea with my system is being able to isolate the frame from both ends thus making it easy to do so this while also gaining hard data on things like clearance, rake and trail etc. this build will need top and bottom shock mounts etc. That is were the lift table and jig set up will really come into its own. This set up at this point of time is only the ruff mock up stage but I am really digging this bike for pure old school streetfighter mussel bike cool.....

As Ben said that's a bandit arm, seems busa arm's are another easy install,
It comes down to taste. I had a bandit arm here spare and feel it suits this build.
The bandit arm only hat spaces the centralize and step diameter down to the 16mm
of the efe pivot. The efe is wide though the pivot so really lots of arms will fit. Clearance
onto the subframe is the only real issue. Bandit arm suits the oil boiler gsxr rims for axel
diameter and tyre width of the 180 on 5.5 rim. I have looked at a busa 6" rim tight but will fit.
Needs spacers and machining of the Cush drive but not to bad. Going to take this bike of
the table soon while dan decides on a few options than will be back up for frame mods for the
upper and lower link

Si there is just no way to keep the stuff out, sealed bearings even get the shit into them.
I have tried plenty of ways and none work well enough to make the effort worth it.
Prep and cleaning after is the way, hydroblasting is safe on everything so that's not even a problem
Only rime is if I don't want to change the look of something then just taped up works fine.
People are trying to do the work on complete motors etc, I can tell you they are fucking idiots...
Shit goes everywhere

These two are just iPhone shot and a very simple edit with iMovie. It's the sort of thing

Bit of a update, to make the rear rim work as I want I have had to machine
a new hub to suit, more hours than it's worth buts it's for me so I can.
Still want to go in from the underside and take out some extra weight.
Not essential but can't hurt....
Started out as a 140 dia 6061 t6, only because it's under half the price of
what I wanted lol it's fine and to be honest machined a lot nicer than I remembered

Cool. You can literally make whatever comes into your head, can't you mate?

Thanks si, tho only if it that was true lol I work very hard
to keep things practical. A big mistake a lot of people make
is having unrealistic ideas on what they want to achieve and
what it takes to do so. Nothing wrong with that of course but
very quickly every thing just turns out convoluted.

Pictures of it fitted to the rim, I'm tempted to ditch the second
Bearing I was going add.

The extra 200 grams shouldn't be an issue because the Ø of the mass is smaller, so the effective inertia will be less.
Inertia goes up by the square of the Ø.
Lighter parts help with getting power to the ground, Yes
Smaller parts do the job even better.

Now go and quote up that disc adp. as if you where making it for someone :)
No don't... I'd hate to know what all my parts would have cost me haha

the order of pictures makes it look like you are turning a machined part back into it's raw bar stock haha

lol God no, I purposely didn't keep track of time, I didn't want to scare myself lol
Even just design in hours would make most people's dick shrivel, easy over 20 years
in machining at a guess....

Hah - engineer types - I resemble that remark! Is that because I've taken to weighing everything I change lately?
Should have included the disc weights to show a total weight loss :P

You should see how the push bike fags go with weight ... some guys take out 3 of the 6 cap screws holding on the discs because it saves .0000000002 grams or whatever...
