Are Integrated tail lights illegal in Australia as I have seen a couple of bikes riding around lately with them fitted.

illegal as the two indicators are not adr width apart.
cop sees it....just the excuse they need to pull you over

Legally they must be 300mm apart.
They are defiantly illegal !

ADR says only 180mm from memory - I've had this argument with muppets doing the roadworthy on my Katana...

I've got number plate mounted indicators on my street tracker, and when i got pulled up one time on it,he did mention they were abit too close....and mentioned he could ping me for it,but didnt get a fine.........i guess he'd already added one to his quota from me already.

Nope, 240mm is the front indicators - Page 7:

basically if the indicators are wider than the rear plate, you're good as gold.

I remember having a similar conversation almost 30 years a go,
and seeing 750 Kittens with and without the stock ones blanked
off and traditional ones added....

ADRs is ADRs.
*Australian* Design Rules.
That doc is actually from Transport SA, hosted on a QLD website.

It maybe be ADR's and yes your right it should be Aus wide by that reasoning , but Vicroads say different and the bike I just had inspected had to meet 240mm in Vic for the rear And I was told NSW and SA were the same. I checked with the local highway copper also and they also say 240 rear 300 front, They are the ones that are going to book me if its wrong.

I used to have some strip leds mounted on a plate cover, ended up adding strip leds running down the tail unit as well, 2 sets of really small indicators on each side for the rear. i thought it worked well.
Numbers had something similar on the wretched, integrated tail lights and also an extra one on each side, it was really effective and bright.
