I just got some really bad news about Pappa Smurf. Michelle his wife just rang me and told me that last night he had a Cerebral Hemerage (Bleeding on the brain) He was rushed to the Royal Brisbane Hospital last night and was admitted to intensive care. I dont have many details as i was only talking to Michelle for a few minutes. At the moment all i know is he is stable but they couldnt find where the bleeding was coming from. As soon i find out how the little bloke is ill let you know. Get well soon little mate.

What a fkn bumma. The good ones always get delt a crap go.
Im not sure if you know any more Shayne but I spoke to Rick on the phone and he is ok, but they still havent found where the bleeding is coming from. Tests, tests and more tests I'd say for the poor bugger.
Shit this sucks:(, get well soon mate. will be missing you at willowbank this weekend.

I just spoke to Rick on the phone, he is in good spirits, annoying the nurses and doctors, food isnt great, but is going ok, would love a beer. Still alot of things unanswered about what happened. But things are looking good for him, he is still in alot of pain but heaps less than a few days ago. They are doing lots of tests and scans. As soon as they find out what is going on they can hopefully fix it. He is still in ICU and will be there for a while by the looks of it. As i find out more info ill let you know, but he sounded good on the phone. Hopefully the little bloke will be fixed up real soon.

Thank you all soooo very much for your best wishes & support in our hour of need.:(
Rick is slowly improving, still more scans to find where the bleed came from, but his head isn't aching as bad, so this is a fantastic sign that the pressure(blood)is going.
I have printed out your posting & taken to the hospital for Rick to read & he was overwhelmed by all your kind( & funny) words.:):)
Thanks to All,
Cheers,

FANTASTIC NEWS:D:D
Rick has been moved to Ward 8A South, Bed 7 so he is up for visitors, 10am-1.30pm & 3.30pm-8pm.
He still has to have more scans on Monday to see if the blood has gone & to be sure all is OK. We'll know more after this and hopefully he'll be home in a few days so I can spoil him.[:X]
He's been up for a shower & they have reduced his meds, even has a TV with FOX & remote control so he's set, but the foods not flash.[V]
Thanks for all your support,
Cheers,
Michelle, Mamma Smurf

I'M OUT
That's right, boys & girls, I'm out a hospital & home & back on me trusty laptop.
Firstly let me thank you all so very very much for your well wishes & also for your support for Michelle, it reallyy means a lot to us.
Secondly i must give a HUGE wrap to all the doctors, nurses & staff at the Royal Brisbane Hospital. I honestly wouldn't be here without them.
Now as for what acually happened i still don't really know all that much except that i had a lot of bleeding around the brain & the bloody pain is just totally in describable.
The mystery is because the type of bleed that i had is almost always caused by a severe head trauma like a bike accident or car accident etc.
I had had nothing, it just came out of nowhere as i sat on the side of the bed.
The really scarey bit was that they ran a barage of scans & tests & whatever & couldn't find the source of the bleeding, still haven't, so scan & tests etc will be ongoing fo a while.
The really really scarey bit is that someone said today that 7 outa 10 people that get these kinda bleeds die from them, so i guess i've been pretty bloody lucky.
It has certainly given me a whole new perspective on things i can tell you that.
Not sure yet when we'll be back on track. That all depends on the ongoing tests so until then you'll just have to put up with me on here.
Thanks again to everyone.

That's good news Rick, I never said anything before but I can now reveal to you that I happen to be this countries foremost expert on that type of cranial ailment & I can tell you with 100% surety that Drag Racing was what caused it. [V]
In my professional opinion, the best course of action for a complete recovery would be to sell the dragbike & go circuit racing [^]
Trust me... I'm a Doctor. ;)

Finally some GOOD news.
Went to my normal GP today about something unrelated to this & told him all about what happened.
Turns out he's a bit of an authority on the type of bleed that i had & gave me some really good news.[:0]
I am able to ride the GS now, which i have already done & it felt SOOOO good. :D
He also gave me clearence to resume racing in April which means we'll be back for the Tin Tops & i can't wait.[:p][8D][8D]
