View Full Version : Grays online bullshit.

Attention anyone buying large items or vehicles on Greys online website.

The system in place for their auctions provides the ability to continue selling the items for a period of time of up to 10 minutes AFTER the sale has ended on their timers.
This means people who would rightly think they had won an auction are able to be outbid after the sale has expired on their site.
This is a dishonest and non transparent process that is not clearly indicated on their sale page.
Though it is listed in the terms and conditions it is contradictory to the running of a fair process. Why have a time limit on a sale that does not apply if they can run it as long as they want after the fact.

Management of Grays on being cornered on this were rude and unhelpful.
If you have thought about using Grays DON'T!!
Just use Ebay that has a fair and black and white system with a good process for dispute resolution.

Grays run a flawed system that everyone should avoid.

Tell your friends.

I've bought heaps of stuff from Grays without any issues, the auction style (while confusing) is a true auction style for the benefit of the seller - designed to stop snipers and to maximise the sale price. It's also important to pay attention to the buyers premium you have to pay on top of the auction purchase price which can vary from 10 - 25%.

eBay is a simplified auction using a sellers premium (the cost put onto the seller for selling the item), and agree is much better.

In this instance though Fair Trading is looking into it.
They wernt impressed with the system either.

You should be thankful you missed it Weasel, all Pommy cars are shit on wheels.
Take it from an ex Landy owner & mechanic who's worked on plenty of them - get a Patrol or a Cruiser, you won't regret it.

I've lost out to that as well, but I read the terms and conditions first, so I was not surprised. You just have to treat it like a real live auction.

I've used Grays a couple of times and had no problems because I read the T&Cs. I'm sure I will use them again.

I doubt very much that Fair Trading will find anything wrong with the way they operate either.

This the military gear we were talking about at AFR ?
probly will be mate
the army 110's are way much better than the civi ones
4bd1 isuzu motor simple and fun
no power steer to mess up
galvinised chassis
and if an FFR unit has a radio power box in back and the 4 x ariel mounts on side .
the seating is much better.
but they are overpriced personally .
transfield has the maintenence contract and we here at work do most of the hunter valley.
but bear in mind the 110's that transfeild send to grays are up to spec with maintenence aswell.

wait a little longer Weasel , the army is about to unload a shit load of rovers onto the market. Prices and parts for army surplus rovers will slowly drop as the continued rollout of the new crap turns up for our troops to distroy.

dont count on parts dropping red as they will go up due to civis buying them!! trust me on that one as our prices have gone up
and also the army isnt and cant let them all go as the g wagon only comes in auto and they need the 110's for driver training etc lol.

Maybe so , but the army are still selling them by the shit load. Just before I left pucka they had 100's lined up and ear tagged for auction and 1000's at bandiana. They have already parted out 100's at bandi years back.

my CO said right sapper i want you to drive down this track and when i say enemy approching , stop as quick as you can and turn around and bug out ?
simple i was in 7th when he called it so i hit the skids droped to 4th clutch in pull reverse lever up when i came to a halt, and just reversed out got to 6th gear and lost it after about 20 secs in 6th pure luck it missed the treee so i pushed lever down for forward when we stopped and took off , i passed but he wernt happy hehe.

3 basic types of gear box from 4 speeds to 24 speed boxes , 8 forward 4 back with lockout of 4 high gears in reverse was the most common.

Yeah it was for the army 110's.

Not bothered now because I scored a mint diesel 80 series with big lift for less then the general purpose rag top 110's were going for.
I did however get a 1/2 ton pintle hitch trailer for cheap off them. Im much happier with the 80.

Fuck 150k isn't even run in..... Plenty of scope for a turbo, they are reasonably easy to get some decent numbers from, well for a diesel...

I don't know if it's because the army has dumped a whole load of them recently, or because work keeps sending me to the hippy/shitty/ex army/woggy side of Sydeneee, but I keep seeing camo Landies. Every. Day.

Unless the cunts are following me....
