Hey all,

Been trolling here for a while now and thought I should finally join. Love the ideas behind streetfighters, getting past the manufracture rivalry bs and appreciating someone's creation for their time and efforts.

I am from brisbane. I have an 02 r1 rolling frame, no motor wiring air box exhaust etc, that I'm planning to slap dirty bars and lights on. But first I have to find all the running gear, which is actually harder then I anticipated, especially at a good price. So if anyone knows of a good wreckers, a stat writeoff or has the first of the injected motors lying around that they dont want, give me a yell. Interstate or possible overseas is looking like my best bet ATM...

Looking forward to getting things rolling. Thanks to all the people who have posted all the good info on here!

Cheers
Aaron

Thanks for the welcome large. And yes have checked the auctions, unfortunately the only one I've seen I was unable to attend. I ran them after to find out if it sold, they told me it didn't reach the reserve price and was passed in. Haven't seen it back on the website since so beats me what happened to it.
Are there any other auction sites other then manhiem and pickles? The only good wreckers that I knew of up this way was at the gabba but that's long gone now.

you can always try www.findapart.com.au (http://www.findapart.com.au) and see what deals wreckers will do??
or just keep trawlling ebay and gumtree til something pops up??

K6, a good old line I used to use when selling bikes. And old school don't give her Amy ideas, I'd rather beg for the forgiveness ;-)

You know you don't actually have to go to the auctions to buy a bike? Manheims lets you sign up and bid online.

It helps if you can check out the bike before the auction- but if you're only after a running motor etc, you should be able to go off the description/pics.

"One key engine started" is a pretty good indicator that it will work but they have a responsibility to accurately describe the goods they are selling.

I bought a zx12 from Manheims that was supposed to run, but when I went to take the bike, they couldn't find the key, so I refused to take it and got my money back.

Well it's been a while, but I ditched the 03 idea and stumbled upon a 99 red/white r1 at the auctions. It had been stolen and had a light drop on the rhs. Not to bad really, top triple, tail repair, exhaust, overflow bottle, indicators and ignition barrel seem to be all that's needed. To start with I'm just going to get it together properly to get it rego'd, then decide what I'm going to do. Got the barrel and top triple on the other frame, just leaves me with finding a coolant bottle and a reasonably priced exhaust (Gunna cut the carbon yoshi up after rego) and a bit of a tidy up and service. Will post pics once there on my computer.

Nice project you have there. I had a 2001 R1 as my last bike. Fun bike to ride. The 98/99 are known to tend to try to throw a tantrum and try and get rid of the rider every so often due to rake angle.

Interested to see what your plan is for her
