Guy's, I've been advised that the 83 750 Katana (non pop-up headlight) tank will fit the 1100 katana ? Does anyone know if this is true ?

everything I find indicate that they ran the same bodywork just different engine/chassis

Seen a couple of 1100 Kats that were originaly
750 imports. Looked the same to me but never
had the two side by side.

I'm pretty sure the bodywork is the same. Frames were slightly different in the bottom engine mounts, but that's all IIRC (apart from carbs, ignitor, etc)

Yes I'm 99% sure they fit, I'm sure I had one on one of my 1100s

I think the question you need to be asking is 'Will a Katana tank fit a GSX 1100 frame?' isn't it?

The frame has already been modified with a 1100 Katana tank currently fitted. The tank I have needs a bit of work and I can get a really good 750 tank but once I commit to it I cant return it.

Do the P5 rules allow you to have a fuel cell & a dummy tank cover?

Yeah one of the Kats built by Dale Gilbert here has that set-up but feedback indicated it wasn't worth the effort. I ended up buying one of the last BRAND NEW 1100 Katana tanks in stock in Australia. I'll keep the dented one I have as a spare if ever needed.
