I assume it is a complete GSX14 rear end with a GSX14 front wheel/discs and GSXR1000K3/4 forks etc. It looks good, bang upto date, although I'm not overly sure on the pillion seat cover/tailpiece part as I like the long seat of the Katana. Similar running gear to what I'm doing on my 400/1000 Katana, although I've used an extended B12 arm and monoshock set up and GSXR1000K4 wheels/forks etc.

It's on bikesales for 19k

Dynomutt

That seems expensive, over here it would be less than £5K, 19000AUD is around £13000. Are bikes that much more expensive in aus?

Nice bike with a lot of work done but not usually that expensive in Oz and price is always negotiable.
We get screwed over by the importers and manufacturers all the time. New bikes are usually up to $10K more here than in the US.

its pretty exxy, even with all the work i would say it would sell for about $10k?

but still, if your an older gent having a midlife crisis then the $19k price is probably affordable
from my misadventures around the country on mine i have discovered that 90% of older males owned one back in early eighties
so i assume the nostalgia based buyer pool is huge!!!

U try buying then building a nice one for 19k !!!!!
My air cooled kwaka motor rebuild alone is worth more than 10k and most air cooled with good grunt can easy be over 5k

I'm not going to disclose what I spent building the EF, but the Engine itself cost more than what the Katana is for sale, and lets face it, a Katana is worth more than an EF.
Personally for me, it's not about the money, it's about building your machine the way you want to, it's just unfortunate that such a machine as the Kat sometimes needs to be sold on for whatever reason, and it's even more unfortunate that a purchaser may not see the $$ value gone into it or monetarily compares it to "the norm" when it comes to price.

Building OldSkool muscle isn't cheap as the others have said. We are not blessed with 160. BHP plus engines and state of the art handling, steering , suspension and brakes. We have to try and build these sort of things into our bikes. Not the mask and turbo route for us to make our bikes look different but a lot of time, effort and money to make our bikes different, and before anybody flames me for that comment I am fully aware that there are A LOT of very talented builders on here that use modern bikes as their base.
What we oldskoolers do have though are bikes with inherent style, class and cool.
I'm sorry but no matter what you do with a water cooled bike it will still have hoses, radiators, ugly engines and stuff that shouldn't really be allowed to see the light of day.

I know exactly how expensive it is building aircooled performance, I'm currently building a couple of 1260 Zed motors for someone amongst others. I've just done a 1085cc GS motor for someone else.
I can see where he's spent the money on the bike and overall it looks great, it looks like he's trying to get his build costs back on the sale.
Over here though there's no way you'll get close to recouping the build costs of something like that when it's sold. My own bike has had over £16K sunk into it to get it where it is now, but there's no chance of getting anything near to that amount back ( not that I intend on selling it anyway after 12 years of ownership) Good luck to him if he gets close to the asking price.

I expect he'll probably get about $12-$14k but hey you never know.
