KTM 640 smc rear fender mod

I finally got round to chopping up the rear end of my 640, I have seen a few threads on this subject but to be honest most of them look shit.
There are aftermarket fenders but they still look really bulky as they retain the rear subframe and a lot of people seem to be chopping the original fender it looks better but still doesn't have that MX look that I'm after.

Chopped up a 03 450 EXC fender and added some heat

I had to squeeze the subframe together to get I narrow enough to fit the exc fender

I'm going to get another fender and re do it to tidy all the cuts up but I like how It looks.

Hope you're right but dont hold your breath if it involves Qld transport. Where ya gettin the info from?

Problem with Qld transport so called engineers is they offer you something and well and truly screw ya for another dozen mods.

For 4 years they were saying 4WD owners would be able to go 2" bigger on tyres, suspension and body lift (5" in total) without approval. When the pricks eventually changed the legislation it was only 2" for tyres and suspension (3") and a load of bullshit and dollars to go any higher. Now if you have a 4WD fitted with stability control (as with most new 4WDs), no change to suspension, tyres or a body lift is allowed without manufacturers approval. As if thats going to happen. Just pure fuckin scum.

Coil over diff under back in NZ and even that was legal.......

The info came from Hyosung Aust. And its supposed to be national.

I bough home a 530 EXC can from work today and with a bit of hacking, riveting and donating from a CBR1000RR
muffler I now have a much smaller lighter exhaust.

Looks much better. KTM seem to struggle with the exhaust design on the SM models. In fact most look pig ugly. First thing I did to the 690SM before I picked it up was order a set of Mivvs from the US.

Heres mine with the R6 exhaust. It was the same length as the side panels.

Nice I like the 690 it's still nice and small, we have a 990 SMR at work and it's scary fun but a little bulky.
Hooligan I saw an r6 can sitting on the rack but I thought at least this way it looks standard to a cop...
I was going to cut it down and still may, I did pull the guts out this afternoon sounds heaps better.

the R6 can was fucking loud at idle, and wake the dead loud at full noise. Sounded awesome.

Well let's face it.... It was only a matter of time!

I copped an $88 fine for "incorrectly displaying license plate" there was a blitz with a plane close cop picking us out.
Good thing he didn't see me on the back wheel a few hundred meters earlier.

Anyways....... I fished around at work and got a new plate mount and now have this.

Probably a good thing as the one I had on I didn't hook up the tail light coz there was very little difference between brake and tail lights, so I thought it better to have just brake.
