I have to take the pipes off my GSX 1100 to change the oil and the ally block is getting decidedly second hand with all the traffic

I want to put studs in the block instead of threading bolts in and out. They are, however, harder to find than I thought

Any ideas?

Use a set screw (bolt with the thread all the way to the underside of the hex/socket) & cut the head off?

Use high tensile ones as well and if using zinc plated put the cut end in the head so the end of it won't look crap as it goes rusty

What thread (size/pitch) do you need the studs to be & how much thread depth is there in the head?

Being a zook I would say m8x1.25 pitch and probably 35-40mm at a guess

Most Jap cars run M8 x 1.25 studs, you can buy kits of these with all sorts of sizes included or any good industrial bolt store will definetely have them.

they are 6mm so best check what you need before ordering

GSX is M8 x 1.25, those studs should be easy to get.
