The wife and I went for a ride on sunday and I decided to use an old point ans shoot camera taped to my bars.

Just wondering what sort of cameras I should be looking to get if I wanted better quality? I know of Gopro's but are there any other brands worth considering?

Cheers

I've got a Replay XD1080.

It's a great piece of kit. great quality picture, decent sound (better than gopro) and a much better form factor than the gopro.

It's downside vs a gopro is that it doesn't have a removable battery, and the battery doesn't last as long as a gopro. you can, however (as i am going to do before i go dirty riding in Thailand in June) get an extended battery that you attach to the camera that will allow me to record for 8 hours straight.

similar issues with the contour roam 2 i just got for afr
not as much battery but its big on-off switch & instant-on just means i wont have 24hrs+ of footage to go thru when i get home

rotatable lens and with it being the "proper shape" make it bang-on for mounting on the moto/mtb/snow helmets

i think go-pro have similar strategy in marketing as redbull, every one i mention helmet-cam too say "oh, a go-pro"...

The replay cam comes with a mic cover thingo (little stickers to cover the mic for higher speeds) here's a video WITH the sticker on (probably bits of 140ish in there)

and one without it (can only hear it at the start, i covered it with music cause it's annoying, probably bits of 160ish here)

The worst thing I find with the GoPro is the file size is huge and once compressed the picture is shit, it's ok for viewing on the TV or computer but posting on Youtube you can't seem to get a small enough file with good enough picture.
