Hi all, just came across this site yesterday and hopefully will be able to chat with some like-minded people. Im based in south west victoria, Portland and curious to know if there are others around who ride fighters. Mine started out as a crashed R6 that I bought for $500, spent $800 to $1000 to get it on the road. Its far from finished but atleast I can get out and ride it when I want and do little bits here and there till its the way I want it. Some pics of it when I bought it:

Midway thru building it up:

Its not the best presented bike as it is now but it will be cleaned up as I ride it and get a feel for what it needs or what I want to get it finally done. Rode it to Phillip Island last year for Stoners last ride, an 1100km round trip over the weekend and didnt miss a beat.

Welcome mate. That sure is one cheap bike you got there. not a fan of the whole bobber-fighter thing, but good on you anyway.

Thanks guys, I like the minimalist style on this bike, less is more in this case. Im not a fan of those longer tails, especially the ones that poke upwards to a point but as long as the owner loves the bike you cant argue with him/her. Same goes for glossy airbrush paint and lots of chrome, not really my thing. I would like to to have a nice clean paint job, was toying with the idea of going similar to factory but we'll see. Hiding as much wiring and cabling as I can is something I want to do but still remain fully functional.

Not sure matey, I did join Custom Fighters a while back but never really did much more than say hello because most people on there seemed to be from the states, and while I dont mind a chat online I would prefer the opportunity to meet some of the people Im talking to face to face and ride with them. Thanks for the welcome

Hey Slim, welcome aboard mate. I'm from the Gold Coast so have no idea where you are, but I'm sure the VIC retrobates will be around soon. Check out the VIC area to see what's going down as far as get-togethers is concerned: http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/forumdisplay.php?29-VICTORIA-AREA

Cheers.
