Hi Guys,
I thought that this might be of interest to someone.
I have always liked the look of the earlier cam covers over the later rather bolbous ones.
The Bandit cover runs a cam chain guide in the top so is not strictly interchangable with the earlier covers.

I modified my early cover to add a teflon rubbing block so that I can use the bandit chain set up (running a bandit bottom end).

Cheers
Peter.

Previously I was running an overbored 1052 engine (81mm bore gives 1196).
After breaking a con rod, I was forced to do a total new ground up build.
I was able to find a reasonably good condition Bandit engine which I then used as the basis of the current build.
So the new build specs are basically as follows:
- Bandit 1200 bottom end
- Busa rods
- Modified 1216 wiseco low comp pistons
- fabricated block spacer (to accept the longer rods)
- GSXR750 short stroke (dot) head (modified - high flow with std valves for reliability)
- >13:1 CR
- standard 750 J cams
- standard Bandit gearbox
- hybrid heavy duty coil spring clutch
- custom oil pump assembly for high flow in both cooling and lube circuits
- custom sump baffle assembly
- modified cam cover for high cooling oil flow and Bandit chain rubbing block
- custom intake manifolds for semi down draft RS40 carb set up
- custom 4:1 exhaust assembly
- custom oil cooler set up for lube and cooling circuits

Cheers

how do you find the 13/1 cr to live with ?

It is a race engine and I do run it on JFP105 race fuel. It would probably run ok on 98 but not worth the risk for a race engine.
I do not have any restrictions on fuel in the race category that I run.
It has never shown any signs of detonation and it pulls like steam train.
I do run the ignition slightly retarded as I believe that all the improvements I have made to the cylinder head result in a faster burn.
I have attached some pics of the sump baffle plate also 40084009for those that are interested.

Yep.
There was a little bit of work coming up with the thought for how best to implement the baffle plate so that it will actually work.
Hopefully it will prove sucessful on the track.
Since I run the engine in a car, a baffle plate is a usefull bit of kit to protect against oil starvation under high G forces.
