Evening punters,

Anyone owned 1 of these, its time i got another stallion and i'm leaning towards this awsome looking widowmaker, just wondering if there is anything to look out for engine wise, been doin a bit of research and the only fault i can find is a minor crank case weakness that leads to oil leaking thru a bolt, but i like the fact that Satan awakes at 6000rpm in every gear  .Any advice/experience muchly appreciated.

Kind regards

Davo

I have known a couple of people who have owned or do own these never seen any problems. They are mental as you say hit 6000 and the real fun begins so much fun to ride.

had one myself and they are mental.
the one i had had a race tuned motor in it
only reason i got rid of it was it

Thankx Yella and Frank. The 1 im lookin at tomorrow is ^ but matt black with Ohlins front/rear with race prep motor. I have very little (14 years) experience riding over-powered bikes that dont handle so this bike should suit me well.Only issue is its got 50K/klm's on the clock, but its been owned by a mature aged rider from day 1 with full service history.Hoping the 5K price tag is on ther money.

Cheers

5K for a bike that will kill you a hundred times in one day ????

What could be wrong with that...

I've got an 09 one now and a mate I ride with all that time had an 04 and an 05 over about 3 years. The latter ended up being the base bike for the particularly unpopular Stu's bike, Carnage.

All of them have been awesome. Balls out power off the mark like i never had on any other bike. And i also like that they take a bit of getting used to. You almost need to learn to ride them.

Never had problems across all 3 of them and if i had the cash, I'd get the next version too.

Ive got an 07 at the moment, the only difference being 6hp more engine displacement on the 07, so pretty damn similar. Its the only bike ive ridden that still scares the fuck outta me. Every other bike ove owned ive gotten bored with after a short time, but not the ZX. Apparently the 04-05's were a decent handling japbike, more so than the latter models. What they do lack in suspension it makes up for in grunt. At the drags a few months ago, mine pulled a 10.49 @ 147 mph. Not bad for a bog stock bike that cost 7k.

Cheers for all the input, checked out the bike, looked the part but just couldn't comit, decided to buy a new 1 instead. Now the fun has begun.New ZX10R,new GSXR Ltd edition, new GSXR Yoshi Ltd edition,or new R1. Havnt bought a new bike since 2003,so many options and so little brain cells.

The new ones don't have the kick to the face power delivery but still you can't go wrong. Good luck with it :)

Thanks Mate, yeah all this traction controll and ABS shit just doesn't seem to do a 200HP bike justice. But buying a 2nd hand bike with big K's...you really dont know the history no matter what the owner says.If i could buy a new 04/05 i would.Best i could find was 1 with 7000k's for $7K,but it was being sold by a hock shop in Port Mac trying to recover their coin.Hard decision

New (latest) Kwak is a f#ckin missile.
Would be my choice over its competition, the BMW and RSV4.
Latest stuff is VERY entertaining when the rev's go up.
There's a couple in the local ride groups,
I can't get near them. Bloody excellent things.

Yep - wasn't suggesting the bike was. I was suggesting Stu was
