Just give it a wax mate.

When my place is built there is a chevy nova waiting to go in the garage.

I have a mate up this way with a heap of these in a shed in different states of repair. Seems some parts are getting hard to find now days. Either way it'll be cool when it's done.

If you can talk your mate into parting with a drivers door I'll shower you in beer! The only part I can't seem to find anywhere. :(

haha... what engine and gearbox??

She's a roller and I mean roller - there's nothing more than what you see in the pics! It's a VH, originally a 245 manual. I've picked up a r/t slimline dash and gauges, seats, left door and bits and pieces. Will be looking for a 265 setting it up with the tripletts, and 727 torqueflite or 35 Borg. Love to get the 265 setup to e38 or e49 standard but cash will determine that.

How's the rust?

Chase

Usual spots, front pans are rooted, left rear quarter, little bits here and there - not too bad for the age. Will need a full bead blast and a heap of welding. There's quite a few rust panels available

I'm sure old mate has quite a few 265's and heaps of other gear as well I'll give him a call and see what he wants to part with, he's more of a V8 guy. He's currently building a VH hardtop with a nicely worked 340...

Humble beginnings ....

Won't be a concourse, hopefully just a tough streeter. I did look at the v8 idea, but all the specs for the 265 hemi's were better - faster acceleration, faster quarter, and better handling cause of the lighter engine. they just don't have the torque of the 8's. I know all this is subjective really depending on who builds the engine. Also I want to use the original "6 pack" style paint and emblems.

K6: appreciate it, a 265 that's at least rebuildable would be great

Snaffler: Jebus only knows what's been done to this thing in it's 15 years in the paddock, but I have some larger hammers ;)

Looks like a good project car. Got a soft spot for the Valiant Chargers and Pacers. Great cars and very underated. Quarter mile times were slightly quicker for the E49 than Ford XY GTHO. Not bad for a OHV straight 6 with not a lot of work to the motor. From what I remember the specs were Hemi 265ci motor, triple dual throat Webbers, extractors, double valve springs and a slight cam with about 320HP on tap.

Drove an E38 in the 70s and it was unbelievably quick for a 6. The 4 speed manual gearbox made a big difference in the quarter mile times over the earlier E37 and E38 manual 3 speeds.

A good combo is the 727 torque flyte auto box behind the 265. Forget the triple carbs as they are a pain in the arse and go for the 4 barrel Holley.

From the specs there's a significant performance increase with the triples, but agree completely they're a pain to setup and well above my skills. But the wanker in me (and it is significant) wants to put the 6 pack badges on... So triple it be :-)

Fuck I love chargers! they were second on my list after the xa coupe... And I found that first.

go the triples I say, it's the only way for a charger
