Why is it that postage from the US to Aus is soooo damn exy?????

I got an quote from a seller of $63 to post a pillion (rhs) foot peg/exhaust hanger for a 03/04 zx6r.(the item was only $20
fook it i could probably buy a new one here for that.

Also to post a seat latch anything up to $43...a fookin rip off.

Sometimes they just wont post overseas???????I and I thought the Aussie dollar was as welcomed as the greenback.

Are they charging the correct prices or stickin the boot in for postage to make an extra buck.

Are there any Blinged up stretched out US comrades here that may want to help with a reasonable forwarding service???????

Most US sellers only use private parcel couriers , Get them to get you a quote using there "US Postal Service" often for small items its much cheaper. First quote for some carbon fiber (15m) was $140Aus then with US postal service it was $60Aus heavyer items can be a pain though.

I had a set of headers sent (did weight to much (under 15 kg) but @ 1.3 m long Aus post wouldnt post them but US postal were happy to send them here. You could look up Chopaweeza (bike importers in NSW) has a FB site Wayne brings in parts and whole bikes from the states in container if your not in a big rush (containers take 6 to 8 weeks on average)

Just don't metion ASF to Wayne. He cracked it with somebody's racist comments in a post and left with some very harsh words to me. Apparently it was my fault, even though I didn't post it or read it.

Because they don't go down to the post office and actually find out. They use online calculators and poor estimations of the volume of the package and charge like that. If someone on eBay charges me $50 for postage and the actual postage is nowhere near that I vigorously express my displeasure with the feedback.

The septics also don't seem to be able to just wrap bits up in cardboard and bubble wrap, they gotta put every fucking thing in a box.

Every seller I've asked says the same thing "no it has to be boxed for them to accept it"

It cost me 70 oz dollars to send a 2004 zx6r 636 headder from the states to Melbourne..
Post will vary heaps depending on what side of the states its coming from..

Don't get me wrong, he's a good bloke and helped out with ASF for years, then one day he just snapped at somerthing he saw because it upset one of his adopted kids who was of that nationality. Just one of those situations that happened beyond my control (the ones you don't hear about usually).

Can't blame him , people's perceptions of whats important are skewed by there experiances. I'm a grumpy old bastard and don't like to many people as such, due to all kinds of shit. With luck Wayne and others will gravitate back to the "New and Improved ASF with added Stick !"

US postage is actually quite cheap (If you are paying the actual cost & not inflated or wronly priced as mentioned above) compared to sending the same item back to the USA, Auspost is expensive

You just need to know the actual costs & deal with honest sellers, I have been buying on ebay for about 8 years & have a fairly good idea of the postage costs

Finding the items using different options is another part of getting the bargains>

This looks similar to the later model peg bracket maybe? Well the price is good & the postage quoted is expedited mail

Message & ask a few different sellers for the shipping cost

Thanx for the links,

Eventually I got someone to give me a reasonable postage price. I reckon you are right its not necessarily the post thats exy its just some fuckers want to squeeze an extra buck and i dont like being squeezed ( unless it is between 2 buxom ladies)

I've been getting my buggy stuff from Septopia in USPS Flat Rate Boxes.

No weighing involved, so if it fits, it gets shipped. I've got a few boxes basically stuffed with 6-10mm plates...so pretty heavy.

As someone already said, it means the seller has to go to the post office so not everyone will do it.
