Heres a question for you all !. can a bike exhaust noise cause a fit ?.
after i left work on monday some one across the road from where i work had to go to hospital because of a fit that was induced by my bike.
if this is true, does anyone know where i can find maybe a room full of similar type people and maybe take my bike in .....

Sounds like crap to me, but I'm no doctor.

err... sort of, there is a condition called "startle epilepsy" where loud noises or a "shock" of some sort (like tapping a person on the shoulder when they don't know your there) can give someone an attack.

Depends on the precise megahurts sound round range, the amount and duration of the revs and the exact distance from the bike (plus up or down wind)......;)

'Ere, sounds like one for 'Mythbusters'

Its not uncommon that a scare or a quick change in vision (rapidly turning there head to look at something) can induce a fit. How many times have you gone past the place there at with out it happening?

Its unfair to come out and blame you directly for it. especially if they hurt them selves during it.

Test for seizures

The best way to find out if an episode is a seizure is to record the event on a video EEG. Unfortunately capturing the event can be difficult, as they are usually sporadic and unpredictable. Therefore a careful description of what happened is extremely valuable. Diagnosis is more difficult without this eyewitness account. Sometimes a home video of the event can also help.

It is important to obtain a correct diagnosis to avoid being treated with medication unnecessarily. Unfortunately, this does happen. In these cases, the medication does not reduce the events mainly because these events are not seizures.

If a person does not respond to antiepileptic medications, further investigation may be needed to explore other possible diagnoses. Sometimes a doctor may decide to wait and see if a similar event occurs again before undertaking further testing.

Short answer is Yes. If the noise from your exhaust was a high enough decibel level then it can trigger a seizure . When I was a bodyguard we had an instance of a woman having a Epilepic seizure that was triggered by a Ferrari with a very loud exhaust that was revving the fuck out of the engine. I was told that it was very uncommon for people with epilepsy to have a noise trigger like that though. I recommend you get onto a specialist forum and start asking questions before any real shit happens from it.

I worked on a neurological ward for a while. All sorts of crazy shit can send some one into a state. The thing is the person already had the condition. Any noise could maybe do the same thing. Flashing lights sleep deprivation etc.

Maybe it was the sight of an unbridled carefree sweaty bad ass reving the fuck out of his machine like he was riding an angry rhino.....(snigger)

The person would have probably had the seizure if you waved at them too hard.

I don't think your bike is a major health concern for anyone else but yourself.

If you think I am wrong, find the person and do some tests. You will need to test some variables (I watch mythbusters). Also testing to "failure" is important.

A quick phone call to a hospital with a neuro dept will clear this up, as I am sure there is plenty of anecdotal evidence to prove otherwise if thats your thing.

The last time I did a massive wheelstand past a catholic girls college, girls clutched each other and there was thunder and lightning........was that because of my bike?

Just to be on the safe side, stick the stock exhaust back on the bike for the next few weeks in case someone tries to sue!

learnatic beat me to it.. put the standard exhaust on the bike, then if someone trys to sue, tell them to take it up with suzuki cause its there unmodified exhaust, they wont have a leg to stand on as long as they dont have video of the bike at the time the attack happened

Now im no pilled up duf duf raver but i have been to a couple, and every now and again you will get a sudden need to shit right NOW!! And you're never alone... Its the music (if you can call that shit music) that gets to a certain freq and makes everyone need to go.. I've also seen a "SOUND WEAPON"(gotta say it with a booming voice and drag it out for effect) .. It was 2 sub woofers in a pipe , 1 big one that was a neat fit in the pipe at one end and a smaller 1 in the pipe facing the bigger one , so that they faced each other but sound could get past the smaller one down the barrel .. when turned to certain freqs the sound would bounce off each other and out the barrel .. i know it works cuase it got pointed at me and i spewed on the spot .. sound waves are weird fuckun!!!!

In days of old, when i used to drive a few trucks for my company, I would take great pleasure in hitting the Mack truck air starters at road houses when the oldies used to be sitting outside their caravans having cucumber sanno's and a nice cup of tea.
Funny shit indeed.
