I used thinners on my old gsxr but it kills the paint quickly too if you don't wipe it with a watery rag etc
I'm pretty sure a bit of heat (leave it in the sun) works too

Eucalyptus oil or WD40 does the job.

Wax and grease remover, like prepsol. Doesn't damage your paint either.

wd40 or your girlfriends (or your own if your an emo...homo, not that there is anything wrong with that, just not my cup of tea) nail polish remover. Easy on the paint smooth on your hands and has a lovely fragrance.

This is your answer mate.
Used to do decals for a living. Best bet is to heat the old item (sticker/pad) first with a hairdryer to make the glue sticky. It usually comes off much cleaner. If you have already done it and just have heaps of glue get the prepsol on it (or Bunnings do something called Prepsolve) and soak it into the glue. Let it sit for a few minutes and then rub it off. Won't effect your paint at all or leave a white haze and leaves a grease free surface.
