Yea i know,,,WTF is this,,,its just about the mankiest bandit you'll ever see on here, i bought it on fleebay with the intention of streetfightering it for my Mrs, its 2003 bike, but boy is she a minger, so far i have the bike striped to the frame, rear subframe and race seat grafted on from an R6,

This is the frame finished, i had to make a small section of frame to tidy up the grafted section, just bought a complete from end off an RGV USD froks wheel the lot, also on the hunt of a gsxr100 swing arm to brace and polish, ordered braided lines for the oil cooler, and braided lines for the vaccum system at the exhaust side,,

Been flat out got the frame back , and have the donkey fitted, and threw a fews parts on it to see what it looks like, its a really poor picture takn on my mobile, so when i get a few more bits added, ill get a decent picture,

i got on the lathe at work, and scrounged a piece of 6" alloy bar, and ratteled off a bush, then got the 4 jawed chuck dug out, and machined out the side casing, came out well, so did all 3, thought why the hell not, need to clean off the overspray from the flywheel tho,,,

I also got my hands on an old r1 swinging arm, and cut the brace off it, and rewelded it to the gsxr1100 arm, give it a polish, looks well so far,

Looking better, i spent the night, and all day today sorting out the wiring, so its 99% finished, cant ever day its 100%. The swinging arm fitted ok., but need to machine a bit more off the brake bracket so cant lock everything up as its coming out again, the chain is another problem, cant get one long enough so need to sort that out, that would let me get the chain cover casing on, and the gear linkage sorted for the race rear sets, the battery is also a problem, as posted in another thread, i would like to lay it on its flat, but would that fry the battery? some advice would be nice on that one, not sure about a front fairing, looking at a german fighter devil type front unit, as the paint job i have planed will suit that style, in all its coming together ok, but still alot of shitty small jobs to do, that consume a load of man hours, ill keep you all posted,,any comments positive, and negitave will be well recieved, also you guys any sujections, as to what to do with the space in the frame wher the battery and airbox was, i am undicided, thought just leave it, then mesh or stainless panel,,,any ideas again??

lookin good mate, just need to shorten the oil lines to the cooler.

We use Tsubaki chains(http://tsubakimoto.com/product/drive-chains/super/super/class3/10/3/2/), Not sure on exact chain but could find out. Have run these for about 6 years (not the same chain) on 1200 bandits n never had an issue. They seam to be every bit as good as the RK chains but cheaper, bout 1/2 to 2/3 price.

zedsled has had the same oddisy battery (http://www.odysseybatteries.com/) in his z1000 for about 6 years could be older then that, it has always been mounted on its side.

TheBogyman
30-12-2007, 08:59 AM
cheers issues, yea had some replys it looks as if i can go with the battery on its side, as for the oil lines, yea they look long, but i just fitted the exhaust headers, and they look ok, but need to re-route the nearside one in the pic, as for the battery, they dont ave any UK dealers, and the chain, yea if you can find out the exact chain you fitted to your 1200,

That's one of the complexities of the later model Bandit frames mate, what to do with that extra length top frame bar. I have seen a Swiss Bandit that used that model with the original side panels that looks bloody great, this one to be exact:

http://www.streetfighters-switzerland.com/image/content/galerien/orba/hp_orba_1.jpg

http://www.streetfighters-switzerland.com/image/header/galerien.jpg

another example of keeping the side panels black to take away emphasis is like Cruisecontrol did:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v392/mintbread1/new1.jpg

so just chop up your original panels to fit your new frame lines and whack them back in as black.

wow, your kids are either REALLY good or REALLY NOT

great progress though!

love the smooth lines of CC's bike, i'd whack it all together with nothing on
but im funny like that ;)

tsubaki chain is 120 link sigma series, you can get them with riveted or joiner links. you should be able to get longer chain if needed

If u still wondering about the battery, if u can find a gel battery (newwer model bikes), rather than a regular acid based (older models), you should be able to leave the battery on its side. If I recall well, some new bikes come out with batteries lying flat, or at an angle.

Recon its about time i got some updated pictures, here is the near finished bike, got her started, but she wont rev on the second choke, dies out, so need to strip the carbs, likely floats sticking, she is way too low, so need to modify the bellypad to leave some ground clearence, the lights are sorted but the dummy lights flash toom fast, so if anyone can tell me what value of resister i need to add inline on the circut to stop this that would be a great help, theres a few days tidying, and brakes to sort out, i striped and rebuild all the calipiers whit new seals and pistons, but need to get custom braided lines made up, o and yea need to look at the can, its resting on the swinging arm, and a breather bottle manufactured and mounted as well, but all in all nearly ready for a coat of paint,,,What think yea lads??

Ahh! nice;)may i place a direction with the jetting[?]pilot 42.5,standard needle,135 main,fuel screw 3/5 to 1 rotation out;)
Those indaviduals are so hard, cause they have no atmosphere(bit like a gay bar in iraq) I found cutting off 5mm from ya slide springs[:o)]helped the transition "off the main back to needle" Yup that headlite is trik:D

TheBogyman
14-02-2008, 08:20 AM
yea fimp, i intend to, its screwed on to what used to be the 2 bits for connecting the key barrel to, so yea it needs to go down, the carbs thing is getting to me i bit, i bought a really clean set offf fleabay, fitted them after removing the dick-shit P.A.I.R system and blocking the pipes, really hav'nt got the results i wanted, she still wont rev clean, and only when the engine is really warm, and i mean really ...does she start to run on the second choke and open up, i pulled the plug leads off one at a time, and they all had the impact of killing the engine except for no2 lead, it was sparking like fuck, but it did'nt seem to be firing on the no 2 cylinder, and pulling it off when the engine was running did'nt really make much difference,,,as there is plenty of spark, i still think is a jetting problem, any ideas??

did ya get ya carbs sorted snotman, if not grab ya self a set of slingshot carbs or if ya feeling a bit rich how about a nice set or 38 mikuni rs carbs they are just fuckin awesome got them on my 1216.
Oh yeah nice fuggin job on the Bandit

forgot to ask how far are ya from Belfast airport?

TheBogyman
13-06-2008, 06:23 AM
carbs sorted. there was a broken wire on one of the coils, and the carbs needed jetted and a run on the dyno, as its only a 600 bandit, think they'll do the job ok now, as for a set of mikuni's, i have a set on my efe1230 harris magnum, and they are a bastard to set, and run shit in and around towns, on saturday afternoon, i blasted the harris on my way back from town, 6 mile straight of road, no cars in sight,,,last time i looked i was over the 130 mark,,,and then,,,went to slacken off into a 40 speed limit, and the rs40's jammed flat open,,,clutched and killed the engine, and got her home too find a screw inside the carbs had shook loose and done the damage, so i am no fan of mikuni's, Jack at holeshot racing recons there really only for the track, and recons a set of gsxr1100 carbs will set up fine on the dyno, and prove more reliable and be easier to ride round town,so thats the way i am going, and i am 50 mile from belfast city airport, and 35 from the international airport, and as for the snotman, its bogeyman, as in ballybogy,,,my place of abode,,,
