Drilling out Catalytic converters

Anyone drilled out their catalytic converters and if so, do they eventually come out completely or are they fuse welded in the pipe?
Mine in my R1 exhaust looks like it could be just wedged in there.

I must remove it for it is....ugly. :D

I might try and take a pic of it to post.

ok, here's a pic of it sitting all neat and snug in the collector. I think I'm gonna drill the sucker into bits and hope it all falls out.

I'm assuming that most people here remove these cat converter things for better performance?
