Just finished talking to Si, the 5th, 6th and 7th of April are the dates. The Long Flat Travellers Rest Hotel is the location, which is 30k's west of Wauchope on the Oxley Highway. The cost for a bed is $35 inc continental breakfast. There is a take-away shop across the road for a more substantial feed. There are about 20 beds in the pub with a campground out the back. The number for the pub is 0265874231. Book your own beds. When I rang they had no other bookings, but this is a popular place so don't leave it too long before you book. See you there

Last year there were 30+ attendees at Macksville. Do you reckon there's going to bo 10+ ASFers who want to drag tents/bedding to this AFR?

I did a quick callround and there's at least 6 Sydneysiders who would prefer to go to Port Mac, where there's a choice of accomodation/food/nightlife.

Just sayin'

Pete have you even read the first post in this thread? Theres camping at the pub! Fuck once again your playing ball in a different park to most. You stay at long flat pete you fucking hero and how about youve posted your coming now stop posting in the fucking thread, you add nothing. Who the fuck has said they wanted to camp? No-one thats who, what the fuck are you reading

This whole thing is pretty fucked Terry i like your idea, if there was maybe 10 of us going, but with around 34 different folks at last years AFR (and i know of a few more that said they were coming) how the fuck you can appoint yourself and organise something that will ONLY accommodate 20 people?

The original discussion was for Port Mack now youve gone and changed it to something else and are ONLY accommodating the first 20 booked, i could have booked 5 minutes after you posted this morning but its an arse of an idea pretty simply.

Hands up who wants to camp? I fucking dont for one but to expect half the folk to camp ..... bit rude really

This place is supposed to be with 3-5ks up the road, so close enough to be involved, if you're a non drinker or like a quick blast home off face.

About twice the price tho-

Hey Mick,
I underestimated the number of people who might attend. My mistake. It sure as hell won't happen again.I called Si and got the date sorted which I thought was a start. I asked him how many went last year and neither of us knew. I told him about Long Flat and how many beds and we thought 20 would be enough, with a few out the back. I didn't appoint myself organiser, believe it or not I was just trying to get something done. I didn't know that Large was the organiser. I asked Si about my ideas and he thought it all sounded good so i posted it.
All it takes is one phone call to cancel Long Flat. We still have 3 months to find somewhere where we will all fit. We have a date set, I hope. Now we just need some accommodation. You can rest assured that you won't hear anymore from me.

Weaselman

Right the date stays as it is then.
Large you seem to know the area so lets shift the focus to port mac.

I think the Star is a good hotel but im open to suggestions. I would hope we get something sorted this week.

If your going to suggest a Hotel dont leave another person to chase the number of rooms. Please call them and also ask about parking/ bike storage if available.
Last time I was there was for a funeral so I don't know the area very well.
Port will be the best option over Wauchope because of size and availability of rooms.

We will work on 30 riders.
If you know of a place with a website post it here so we can all have a look.

No more shouting or bitching lets just get it done.
If you have bookings at Long Flat cancel them. We can roll through there for a meal or something on the run.

So we need
More that 20 rooms (Single or twin share it doesn't matter)
Parking for utes/ vans
Garage for bikes.

But Loz (Mrs bob) wanting to come along and with my busa most likely sold by then I would preffer a bed. We are still keen to come along, will wait and see were AFR will be and make our own arrangements if need be. Let remember 1 thing... I've never been an official organiser. After Si took a bath on ADR09 I organised a run the Bathurst for '10 and Macksville for '11.

By organising, I mean I asked for recommendations from members where to stay, rang the hotel, booked x number of beds and kept a running list hereabouts.

I fucked up with the dates, but I was working in Large Time and knew we had 3 months to go anyway.

So over to you Andy to organise the accom.

btw- I'd also start another AFR thread with the details of the hotels (if they aren't a pub they are near a pub yes?)

And someone better ring the other place to cancel and apologise, he cant be too put out- it's unlikey he's ordered 40 cases of VB or slaughtered a cow yet. As Terry said, we can stop there for a refreshing beverage on the way up or down the mountain to assuage our guilt and thirsts.

Weaselman
13-01-2013, 12:26 PM
Im sticking to pubs because I like to keep things central.
Ive got detailed emails off to the following

Port Mac Hotel
Town Green Inn (Port Mac)
Star Hotel (Wauchope)

Now the Star is looking to be the bet as they have secure parking for the bikes and the manager was a very understanding bloke.
BUT If the numbers exceed 20 there will have to be bunks put in rooms to bulk out number.
This is unavoidable as the pubs dont get the passing trade the snoweys area get.

When the other places get back to me I'll be able to make a more informed decision.
As per rooms If the Star is the best option then single rooms will be offered to members and their wifes/ gf's first.
So dont complain if you miss out because its common sence.

Most of the hotels in the area cant hold much more than 20 people without adding beds to rooms.
Motels are a more expensive option and you got to walk to the pub and this wont allow us to kick on for fear of getting booted. Also the pubs have more chance of secure parking.

Shit. Sorry ladies. Terry was trying to do a job that I should have been doing but I've been screwed for the last 3 weeks with a lot of shit and missed all of this. Add in the fact that I know that area about as well as the surface of Mars and you see why I thought Terry's idea was good. Terry, I apologise for leading you into a lion's den mate, I had no idea either. If we ever have an AFR up this way again I'll have no hesitation of organising a pub in an area I am familiar with, but on this one I'm blind.

I guess the majority of us should stand back and let the dust settle then something will appear as a clear winner. The date is the only thing that I know must stay in place.

Im very greatful to anyone who organises anything like this.
Its beyond me, being a disorganised lazy arse who loses interest.

My 2c as i've mentioned, is that everywhere we have ever had a run too
had "options". There has never been anywhere where extra numbers or
last minute deciders could not be catered for. Its never been an exclusive
"First in best dressed / limited" event. This should be a primary consideration.

Sorry about my previous comments Terry, you were having a go which is
more than I ever did. Good on you. Happy to buy you a beer on the day Mate.

Sydney guys will prolly be meeting at the Berowra Mobil (might be a 7-11) at the start of the F3 for the run north.

It's only about 450-500k so I'm thinking a 9 ish start- meet the newy guys at 1030 and go from there.

2 weeks to go more or less and I'm exited. Bikes prepped gears packed and I'm busting to have a beer and a laugh with you bastards!

Last minute was my plan too but i'll be lucky to have a whole 24 hours at home between now and actually leaving for afr. So i did it all now. Bike needed a service anyway.

Having to get the bike strapped in, tools, riding gear and a hemi engine and cross member in my van will take a little bit of time....
