Gday fellas,
any idea why a motorbikes steering would fight with ya?
riding slow, especially while just coasting along, the handlebars wanna push to the left or right. Kinda a bit like riding with a flat tyre.
when you hit the gas, the fighting feeling goes away but let off the gas and she gets back into the pushing, a bit like a mini tank slapper sometimes, pretty firm and in different directions.
any ideas what could cause this?
what bike is this on again??

Steering Damper is on backwards....:D:D kidding.
Possibly a misalignment in frame, under-inflated tyres, uneven tyre wear... just to name a few.
Jarrod
i had a similar prob.... had to replace bearing

jarrod, if the steering damper is on backwards, does that mean it speeds the steering up :D
Yes I know I'm not helping.

thanks for the responses
are there any tests i can do to test the head bearings?
if i squeeze the front brakes and try to rock the bike back and forth there is no play.
Turning the handlebars while stationary is fairly hard, harder than normal, would this have anything to do with the head bearing?
thats what mine did, there wasnt any play, but it got real stiff

The best way to check the head bearings is to pull em out.
They may not be loose but they can still be seized, rusty, worn out etc...

I know this will sound weird but check your swing arm bearings to mate cos my old Z650 had a this problem and after replacing the head stem bearings, it was still there so checked the swing arm and there was play(side to side) replaced them problem solved. Bandit Rod had a similar problem and we did his while he did his rebuild also fixed the problem.

yeah mate my swingarm bearings were absolutly fucked along with my head stem bearings so would check both cos once the back went so did the front just something for you to check
