G'day mates ! I'm a whingin pommie barstard, lived in Cairns the last 6 years after moving from the grim frozen wastes of northern England. :)

I've had many many sports bikes over the last 20 odd years, started off on old gpz1100's and 900 ninjas, moved on to gixxers, exups and R1s and 1 1998 Fireblade which I only got cos I reckoned it would last better on our salt encrusted roads.

So, I now have an accident repaired, chinese fairing repsol 1996 Fireblade that has somehow made it to 83000 kms! Having cleaned it up, got it approved and re-rego'd last year I'm toying with fightering it, actually what I am doing is trying with all my soul to resist fightering it having done a couple of specials (neither of which was ever 100% finished you won't be surprised to learn !) and know only too well how expensive and time consuming they become !!!

I've been told this is THE best streetfighter forum on the planet, and as I am in Stralya meself thought it would be rude not to. Will sign up proper when i get some cash.

Anyone fancies a holiday in Cairns, you can be my drug mule and bring me parts in exchange for bed & board.

My thoughts so far on the Blade -

Rear tail - Ducati 999 seat, exhaust can/cover. Remember that ? always liked that and is different from the twin underseat R1/tail although it is nice.
Headlight - Always loved the front lights off the 999 too actually.
Swing arm - single sided swinger off a pre 98 VFR perhaps ? easiest also but I do also like the Aprilia RSV swinger too.
Front end - usd - 98 R1 maybe? fit straight on i believe

As I say, problem is gonna be finding parts for cheap and getting them up here.

Andy

Welcome aboard Andy,
We lived up that way for a few years but migrated south to the sunny coast. It gets damn hot and sticky up them parts. But coming from Ireland anywhere here in Oz is hot and sticky.
Good luck with the blade

Thanks chaps ! We had 3 years to decide which part of Aus to live in, liked the look of Cairns and they gave us both jobs by phone so the choice was easy. The Winged Serpent (wifey) looks forward to this time of year and bitches about the cold in winter ! but for me yeah, don't like the Wet but something you just have to put up with to get the beautiful weather the rest of the year.

Yea, ...and me. Welcome aboard mate.
Sounds like you have the bike summed up in your mind. The only thing that may be a headache is the 999 stacked lighting, unless you're thinking of using something like Mad Ass lights, then it's a piece of piss! You'd be able to get anything shipped to Cairn's wouldn't you?

Hi Jinx (see what I did there), yeah Palm Cove nice spot, it's where we go for a feed and only 5 mins away. I'm in Trinity Park, got beach and boat ramp at end of the road.
