Along the years Yamaha has come up with a lot of nifty bikes which made it into the motorcycle history books. Some of them stayed closer to the initial classic lines, while some have evolved into new machines, with fans and haters and all.

Yamaha now shows a new concept bike which has already started up some flames around the web. Cage Six is the name of the new game and before passing any judgement we'd say it looks very aggressive and sleek.

Now, there are some guys who really hate all the bright loud neon color scheme and plethora of graphics details. The malice went even further and the Cage Six was dubbed Yamaha's approach to a crashed Ducati streetfighter. The bike might look odd for some people, but it's far from being that ugly.

The Cage Six is based on the XJ6 model, but has taken things way ahead. As far as we're concerned, the Cage Six boasts some lines in the vein of the new Tenere and Super Tenere, boasting a mixture of sleek curves and squared elements which go perfectly with its aggressive nature.

And with the addition of stunt bike elements, such as front axle footrests and no less than four crash pads, it's unclear whether Yamaha are planning to build a factory stunt bike, or if the Cage Six will make it into production. What's clear, though, is the fact that the Cage Six comes with its own appeal for the stunt enthusiasts, young riders and more aggressive pilots. And by all means, the Cage Six could very well become a starting point for a new streetfighter bike.

Why would you use the horrible XJ6 ?

Sell it to learners? LAM's approved ?

R6 would be waaaaaay better.

Styling looks ok but needs bigger balls like the FZ8 or FZ1. Substitute the puke green for a red and the grey for black or white and it will probably sell.

Swap the yellow for blue, put a decent engine in it and some chunky USD's.

It looks cheap.
Something worthy of Korea, not Japan.

I kinda agree Cruise, I think that paint job makes it look a bit cheap like something you'd buy from Kmart.
And the front and rear suspension almost look worthy of a pit bike.

Is it just a learner bike, something they can drop and not damage anything, if so I think it's a great idea, colour probably suits the demographic well too.

I wish the japs would bring out something like this based off their litre sports bikes though and not detuned lemons. Wasn't Suzuki bringing out a naked gixer thou this / next year ?

Im sure there is a market for a Naked Nutter Sportsbike.
A naked GSXR1K, Blade, ZX10 etc.
Done in the style of the gutless "cage 6" above.

So far everything seems to have missed the mark, (B-King included)

Some of the Euro bikes seem closer but thats no use if your a fan of big Jap 4's.

Where's the Full Monty Mental Naked Sportsbike that hasnt had its balls cut off,
lost ponys, gained weight, had tamer geometry, been dumbed down?

That's sorta the idea I got from it. A learner bike that is "cool" for the kiddies (eg a replica stunt bike) but practical in the sense that it has a small motor and is droppable. Just like the 250cc "sports" bikes are for the gofast people.

Isn't that what this forum is for?

Yes, but Isnt this topic about a production bike ?

The fact that this forum, along with Seppo and Pommie one's exist,
along with all the show's, Mags, DVD, Youtube clips and accesseries
should be an indication that there is a market for a production bike.
The Bandit filled a gap in its day, the market has moved on and theres
a gap there again.
