View Full Version : Dyno night

It's on.

The best time for me to run it is Friday the 16th of Nov after work.
I know it's short notice and may not be good for some people and I'm sorry.

Right let’s get started.

I'm running a DYNO night.

It will be held at DYNO DYNAMICS, 19 Industry Court Lilydale VIC.

Doors will be open after 4:30pm and will finish when I'm sick of you.

You will get a couple of runs and a print out.
You will then get the chance to change Jets/timing/plugs etc and then back on the DYNO to check the changes.
All work on your bike will be done by YOU, not us and you'll need to bring your own tools.

There is plenty of room for you to strip your bike and do whatever you want.

This is for the Streetfighters not for the general public, please don't bring all your mates as they will be turned away.

The cost to you is $0.0 .... I'm am doing this for FREE.
You will have to sign a form as well.

Can I get a real count as to who's coming, not I might or maybe I can come.
I don't want to set this up for 1 person.

Edit:
Make sure you have a FULL tank of fuel, try and use the type of fuel you use most often.
Legal stuff.... If I think your bike is UNSAFE I won't run it. No oil leaks, No Fuel leaks Etc.

It's probably a good idea to have new plugs with you, we can look for Det on the plugs if you like.

If you bring more than 1 bike, the second bike gets run when I get a chance or you finish the first. I don't want heaps of bikes in bits around the factory.
Photo's are welcome.

That is a fucking great offer man....

It is indeed Dan, pop down and have a go ;) That's a great offer Ivan. As I live just down the road from Lillydale I'm absolutely up for it. Cause I'll be bringing just my standard Speedie I'll not be doing any tuning or adjustment just curious to see how much grunt the old fucker's making. Good stuff.

You can count my righteous arse in mate, I'll be bringing 2 bikes, is that cool or do I hafta choose between them & break the bad news to the loser?

latheboy
09-11-2012, 05:20 PM
You can bring 2 bikes TK, I don't think I'll end up with heaps of people coming anyway.
But if you do bring 2 bikes...... 1 has to be the POSTIE :)

Edit on first post....

You might be suprised Simon, dyno's are great at telling you if the motor is running ok.

I'll put you in the 40000HP group :)

What was I thinking ?? 24-28 hrs down the inland route would be a walk in the park.....lol

Hey Dan, free room and board at my place if you do come along Thanks for the offer Simon but I'm currently in negotiations with the minister for war and finance about the X-mas drags so putting this proposal forward at this late stage would undo all the headway I may have already made. ;)

fuck yeah... and i'm gonna be in town. don't even want to do anything to my bike but would like to know how much hp its got so i can argue with people at the pub and shit.

Deano
11-11-2012, 10:35 PM
i would bring 2 bikes but i think the price per bike is a bit rich.

can only afford to bring 1

latheboy
12-11-2012, 07:02 AM
Well my time is worth top dollar Deano and this is a short stay hotel type offer :)

So far there's 4 people with maybe 6 bikes plus mine, should be able to spend some time tuning.

xa-mont
12-11-2012, 06:42 PM
might have to look into how to adjust the trim pots. Have you got Air Fuel analyser screw in thingo's? (good description i know) I've got a sensor bung in each header and aparently you use them to adjust trim pots on the ECU to adjust fueling balance or something.

latheboy
12-11-2012, 06:49 PM
Yes, All our dyno's have AFR metres.

xa-mont
12-11-2012, 06:54 PM
yeah but are they just the stick up the exhaust type or the screw in type? i think i need to check at each header seperately so that i can set the t-boddies individually... i think. Time to research this me thinks.

might be cheeper to use egt probes instead of dual chanel afr?
run one afr and ballance egt pot to pot ?

latheboy

I tuned my by egt's and 1 AFR.

The exhaust prob has a screw in sensor.

latheboy
12-11-2012, 08:18 PM
Sorry for the short poorly worded reply ..
I tuned my bike with 4egt's and a afr sensor.
The dyno being used has 1 afr probe and 1 temp sensor ..
If I get time ill hook up the extra sensor pack but I can't
Promise anything.
If time allows we can put the afr sensor in each pot for you xa.

xa-mont
12-11-2012, 08:21 PM
coolies. i'll read up on what process i need to go through to set the pots then.

It's has different plug ins, also a map sensor for boost/vac.

Here's the old flyer for the dyno, it's being updated now with the added ons

I'm busy with real work stuff and don't want to be standing around till 7pm.

16-11-2012, 07:29 AM
I work in Fitzroy and I finish at five so by the time I get home and get something to eat( I have to cause I'm a diabetic) I hope to be in Lilydale by about 6.30pm but will try to get there earlier if at all possible.

TurboKat
16-11-2012, 10:25 AM
I'll be there by 5, just hafta do a shitload of work to both my bikes first

wackyrider
16-11-2012, 10:33 AM
I'll try and knock off around 4:30 so I'll head over after that. Won't be doing any work on her, just a quick run and a catch up

latheboy
16-11-2012, 10:35 AM
Cool, I'll be working till 5 tonight.... I was going to knock off early but can't now...

Is it too late for me to say I'd like to come along? I work in Hallam til 5, then I'd have to go home to Box Hill to jump on the bike and head over. Someone let me know if I can or can't have a run if I come over?
Cheers,
Liam.

Thanks Ivan and the guys at dyno dynamics for letting me come play with your cool toys

Worth putting a boost gauge on your bike next time on the dyno to I think as we had that difference between my laptop and your dyno software.

latheboy
18-11-2012, 08:35 PM
That's cool bud .. I'll post some graphs tomorrow ..

I do have a boost gauge and It's the same as the map sensor..
Same when fuel pressure is mapped ..
It's weird that your laptop was different.

Deano
18-11-2012, 08:52 PM
It was wierd but the readings and hp levels are normal as such. Can you post up a graph that has afr as well. My screen looked perfect but my wbo2 sensor could read different to yours. Started out at 13odd and sitting at 12.5 or so on boost and down to about 12 in the last 1000rpm

stiffsimon
19-11-2012, 06:06 AM
Big thanks to Ivan for his very generous offer of free dyno time. It was good to catch up with people again and good to know that my bike almost recorded a triple figure BHP reading  All good stuff and always a joy to see Deano's bike.

19-11-2012, 08:31 AM
Ivan, you are a legend mate. Always good to catch up with the boys and have a chat. Bike was running like crap on the way home, so carbies have been removed and cleaned. Now gotta put them back in and see how she runs

xa-mont
19-11-2012, 08:50 AM
Thanks Ivan. You're a champ. Sorry about my exhaust consuming your strap :-P hopefully next time I get it on a dyno I'll have a different exhaust.

19-11-2012, 09:16 AM
No problem guys, It's was a good night.

Finished up at 10, I think I won the title of least HP.... Fried the clutch last week and couldn't even get a run on 5PSI.

Yes, a big but belated thankyou to Ivan & the D.D. crew for opening up their facilities (& in Ivan's case, his arsehole) for us all to take turns having a go at.
I must remember the 5 P rule (Perfect Preparation Prevents Pisspoor Performance) in future because both of my bikes were lost causes as far as tuning goes, the Secret Squirrel bike desperately needs a Power Commander (no Bike Interceptor avail. for Secret Squirrels) so I've got one on the way but it's a bit late now :( & the poor old 7/9 is BADLY neglected & in need of a refurbished set of carbs, a chain & sprockets & a clean airfilter (I could have sworn I only cleaned it 3 or 4 years ago )
Was good to see a few of the lads & have a Ketchup.

latheboy
19-11-2012, 02:20 PM
Thanks Jules, I got them.
I'm walking ok now TK, thanks for being nice...

I will do another night with the same format in a while, unfortunatly the bloody salesmen have sold MY bike dyno......

I'll just build another that needs lots of testing.

Alan ( the Boss) was happy for me to do this for you guys and said it's ok to do in the future.
