View Full Version : April Fools Run 2013....

Not sure if anyone's noticed, or interested, but in 2013 Easter fall's
on the last 3 days of March and the 1st of April. Traditionaly ASF
Fools Run dates.

Wives and kids at home, double demeit points, places charge extra,
roads are busy, cops out in force, hotels and motels booked ?

Not a drama if it happens, doesnt, or gets moved,
just thought i'd mention it now not later.

Thank you.

Back to what you were doing.

Interesting.

It was never meant to be a AFR planning thread,
I just wondered if Easter would effect anything as I
normaly stay away from the roads on Public Hols.

Would be interesting to hear what Si thinks when he has a spare minute ?

Cant argue with Fimp's post though....

Double point weekends I park the bike.

The wife and I went across to Coffs last easter the traffic across the hills was pathetic, I'm all for a week either side.

The national ABA archery shoot is on at Alice Springs in easter 2013, I was going to try and make it for that, so as for location I'm easy but I'll 3rd Fimps suggestion, wouldn't the majority prefer a weekend event not something that takes 3 days to get there and three days to get back..

17-10-2012, 03:48 PM
They have reduced the price of G650GS to $10k too, I make mention of this as it has the 780 - 750mm seat height option. They told me $2k + the Tunono and they'd give me a new DR650 with 12mths rego, no anal lube supplied.

EVLZX
17-10-2012, 04:15 PM
You don't want a new DR get an old one kick start only like mine :)
I just got it over here the other day has been sitting for over 10 years.
Here's a good one http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/suzuki-dr650-daka-/261113695393?pt=AU_Motorcycles&hash=item3ccb96cca1#ht_500wt_1414 awesome bike for that kind of back road stuff.
I have heard of them not moving much on new DRs $wise, don't know why.
I think the newer DR have the height adjustment as well.

Track Pricing for 2013

Saturdays $7,300
Sundays $7,300 (and public holidays)
Fridays $4,200
Weekdays $3900
Any CAMS events will attract a $500 levy which will be charged in addition to the circuit hire.
Insurance cover is mandatory AASA Permit $800
Ambulance $640 per day
Track Marshal $280 (optional)
Control Tower $200 per day (optional)
There are other options on standby eg water truck, witches hats. Phone for details and costs.

So it's about 10k for two weekdays, divvy it up between 100 punters and its only a hunge each????

Are you kidding? The last one at casino was 80 grand and that was a drag strip not a whole facing race course. In saying that, at casino we could camp and have show and shines and charge admittance to anyone who wanted to come in and flog their bike, we also had a massive beer tent where we could get tanked every night.

I am wondering if we would have the same options at Wakefield or if we would have to find somewhere outside the track to drink, eat and sleep. If so $100 each quickly turns into $400 each, which I'm fine with but I know a lot of other people wouldn't be.

EVLZX

To save afew bucks,it could be a day on the track, then have a band play/piss up that night and following day?

1st thing 1st if people are thinking of a bigger type deal start planing now..... for next yr
and as mr tar has said it cost a lot more than one might think to host
it didnt go so well for si when the running of said event was left to us where it is easy to type
event planing and running is of the harder things to do when on surface it looks easy

Ah yes, this old game again....

Any spare funds I had to do events like this went down the pan in '09, and I'm not risking anything like that again. The whole thing could have worked if it hadn't been for the torrential down pour that cut off roads from the south and turned away at least 3 big groups that I knew about.

The only advice I can give you is to avoid anywhere where the weather is known to be dubious at that time of year. I'm guessing that counts most of sub-tropical QLD out.

There's enough guys here from all over the country to know what April weather is like in their region, and I for one can tell you Gold Coast / Brisbane / Northern Rivers regions are OUT!
