View Full Version : Build dates fron VIN codes ?

Trying to date a bike.

Doing a bit of research all the info comes back saying that the 10th
digit in a VIN code is the build date. It also say's the this 10th digit
will not be a 0 or a o.

I have two bikes that both have a 0 or o as a 10th digit.

Can I find the build date on a Suzuki from the VIN number ?

I know that it can be done with a ho*da, have you tried calling a Suzuki dealer ?

Not yet, but I might end up doing that.
I just wondered if there was a secret to de-coding
VIN's as the info I've found does not work and it
would be handy to know for other / future bikes.

Did you have a look on suzukicycles.org ? i thought they had something on it in there..

No way to decode years on suzukis from Vin. They don't set them up that way.

kept reading "10th digit" but it didnt look right.

Vicroads would have what it is on record , just drop in and ask tell em its a bike you want to register but you need the year for paperwork. Take em 2 min to look it up, pick a hottie and bat your eyes at her.

I'll try that next time im in Qld Transport.
Had a sour faced fat miserable Cow today who just kept underlining
everything in hi-lighter and pushing it back at me. Normaly they
are pretty good. Spotted a woman who run's a forum who we ride
with working in there, (nice and helpful too) so there may be hope.

I was looking for an excuse to put some more K's on the 14
to make sure its all good, so I went down to Springwood Suzuki.
One of the mechanics put the number into the Suzuki 'puter.
All sorted now.
