well dont let any one tell you that u cant cut a internal key way in a lathe
let them tell u its a pain in the ass and should be done other ways
let them tell u that u will end up with a arm like popeye
any way this this is one of the gears i need to replace on my 1950s mill to make the tauret work
when u buy a mill for 200 out a dusty shed quess its to much to ask that it works :-( lol

Your a persistant fucker , I take my hat off to your sir. I'd rather do it myself (the fucking hard stupid way) than pay someone else to do it the quicker possably cheaper in the long run way lol

So when are you starting the case hardening school ?

fuck paying some 1 thats less money for titts and tyres my 2 true loves in life
and yes prob cost more at times but then i dont have to walk out side my door because the world shits me
the gears are of the shelf blanks .soooooooooo much easier $110 to my door for two 4140 gears 20 teeth and 40 teeth
the one in pics is the 20 and was 1/4 the price of the 40
that and i need my mill to make parts that i need to make my mill work :-(

Depending on your lathe and how the gearbox works, you can unhook the spindle belt, lock the chuck, and use the power feed, saves all the sweating and sore arms:cool:

Both of my lathe's use the output shaft to drive the gearbox worst of luck.

Shit ozz you're determined, I'll have file this one away in my head for future use.

I thought I was a bit mad for machining my cush drive on my 7x14 lathe.

Ozz should have his own "Machining Tips" thread so silly buggers like me with SFA experience can learn a few tricks.
