Can any of you knowledgeable gentry point me in the direction of a good source of offset sprockets?

I need to move the front sprocket on my TL about 8mm in..

Would making a spacer for the rear out instead of the front in be an option ? Give you more chain to tyre clearance , for other rear rim/tyre options in the future ? A old machined down sprocket as a spacer perhaps ?

Sadly not, where the chain runs through the brace on the Ducati S4R swinger only has a small amount of play - and cause the width of the swinger mount has been narrowed to fit the TL frame - putting a spacer in the rear would have the chain running over the frame boss.

Bugger , Got an old front sprocket then ? Machine outer off old one use centre welded onto new sprocket then machine centre out of new one. Offset sprocket to the width of original sprocket, prob running a 425 ? So only 4mm turning up a spacer to weld between old and new unit for the extra 4mm would be an option. Ben could sort it for you I'd bet.

sure mo's idea would be quickest way out

but those output shafts on the tl.... not known for their longevity :confused:

Going inwards shouldnt hurt that fimp, the load would be closer to the bearing. Whether there is the room to go in 8mm without the chain fowling the case I have no idea though.

You could swing it in and the rear slightly out to alow a little possably , and drop down to a 520 chain (slightly narrower than a 530 stock chain) if you use a non O ring it will will be narrower by another 1.5mm ruffly. Being a twin the torque on a 520 will prob be a little hard on it and wear will be quicker than the stock 530. Increased wear is the neg lighter weight a bonus though.

I am running a 520 chain to be able to match up the ducati rear sprocket, so that should help a bit, there's about 30mm of spacer between the stock sprocket and the case so should be cool (I hope :rolleyes:)....

I emailed the guys at pmfronline but to no avail, I'll drop the xam guys an email, cheers Whale...Hehe made a little poem.

Depends which way you put it on, I have ground them down before, some are real tough to machine as they are case hardened.

Ahh, ok. So if I reverse it do I need to get the face of the spacer between the sprocket and case machined to a 45 to sit flush inside the sprocket?

And I spose the big question - is it worth trying to machine the sprocket (more specifically asking you to machine the sprocket :rolleyes:) or is the amount of work involved in getting it to a 520 not worth it?

They've got 45's on both sides, I can machine it, the sprocket is $175 & it would be $110 to machine it down so whether it's worth it would be your call.

How far offset do you want it to end up ? If I machine down the front face it will end up 7.5mm offset or off the back it will end up 10mm, or I can do a combination of both to end up somwhere in between if need be.
