Has anybody not signed this petition to stop the dumb arsed Hi-Vis proposition?

http://www.change.org/petitions/the-hon-terry-mulder-mp-minister-of-transport-victoria-stop-the-threat-of-hi-vis-clothing-for-motorbikes-made-compulsory

If this thing for some stupid reason becomes law in VIC how long before the rest of the country gets it? It'll take 3 minutes and will show that riders do care about what the government try to impose on them because of fuckwit drivers actions, so make the effort.

Cheers

This was taken from another forum from an apparently good source. Lets hope the intel is correct.

I was talking to a bloke in the know on Friday and asked him what was happening with this mandatory fluoro shit.

He told me it was gone. It had made it to parliamentary review and they simply said we don't have the budget to implement it.

The plan, as presented, included a major revamp of licensing procedures.
There were to be different grades of licence such as scooter, auto or manual, and three levels of bike licence to even out the LAMS debacle.
The proposition for fluoro was for learners, not all riders.
Front plates, whilst still on the proposition, were being argued against anyway.
There were other minor plans to be put in place but it's all been put away now.

Received this from change.org today, whether or not it will ever go anywhere doesn't matter, the fact that these clowns are actually coming up with this is scary enough

From reading all of that I gleen there pissed that cops are pissed 50% of bikes running through speed traps over the limit dont get fined . So there going to bash us with anything they can.

They have presented the stats to make them look bad IE 29% increase in fatalitys (is true) but when put in context of the whole "road users group" it goes from 13.1% up to 17% mostly because the others have come down. Interesting that car drivers has significantly decreased but passengers has increased by almost the same amount.

Funny that if its that great, take a look at what
a Qld cop is wearing on the next sunny day.

Does that mean its OK if someone run's him over ?
He wasnt visible or protected. Government recommends
he has full protective gear and 5 pieces of hi-viz.

Yep I've just had a look through and it appears that the inquiry opened mid 2011 and closed 31/08/12.

Here's a list of submissions http://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/rsc/article/1681 for anyone that's interested.

I don't know how organised this is but there seems to be a protest happening the monday in Melb after the GP.

http://www.damiencodognottooam.blogspot.com.au/

PROTEST RUN 4 (http://www.damiencodognottooam.blogspot.com.au/2012/09/protest-run-4.html)

The PROTEST RALLY against:

1. The flouro vest law proposed by Victoria Police.

2. The compulsory boots, pants, jacket & gloves law proposed by Police.

3. The return of front number plates (and/or stickers or tags) proposed by several officials and Police.

4. Anti-association laws proposed by the Victorian Attorney General.

will go ahead.

WHEN: from NOON on Monday, October 29, 2012. That is the day after the Phillip Island GP so many riders will be in the state and a lot of media.

SPEECHES: 12.30 pm to 1 pm. Speeches will be kept short becaus many riders will have to get back to work.

WHERE: A'Beckett Street, Melbourne in the Elizabeth Street motorcycle precinct.

LAPS: After the speeches many riders will have to return to work. Those that don't can do laps of the city raise awarenress of motorcycles & scooters in traffic and the issues they face. Suggested route. Elizabeth Street, left in Collins, left in Spring past Parliament House, left in Victoria and left back into Elizabeth.

All usual road laws apply. Road safety is the highest priority.

Rides in from key points should be organised. Cranbourne to guide riders from the Phillip Island races is important as is Geelong, Melton, Sunbury, Campbellfield and Lilydale. Maybe Brunswick HOG could organise a ride from Highway 31? Petrol Stations are usually good assembly areas. I'll put the details here as organisers contact me.

The Scooter Association clubs are supporting the PROTEST.

Aussie flags and club banners should be flown proudly. They attract the media and show the public that we are united, well-organised and we care.
