G'day all. Been a while since I posted anything of value. So here's a half assed attempt. :D

Been trying to stay busy durring the work week. Winter at a bike shop gets kinda slow.

Here's my 900RR. It's been my daily rider for over 3 years now. It's been through a proper floging so I figured it was time to shine her up a bit.

Started with this mess.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/Scrapyard49/Damage%20Control/DSC00631.jpg

As of today she looks like this

All new bodywork and paint, recoved seat, redid the wireing mess, rebuilt all the controls, adjusted some bent parts, repacked bearing and freshened up the suspension and brakes.

The SV in the back is my girlfriends project which I was bestoyed the privalige of finishing, lol. It's an 05 650S (faired model). We swaped out the fairing for a Duke II unit, converted to naked clamps and bars which were powdercoated black, Steel braided lines, Pazzo levers, adj rearsets. Started on this Monday Morning. Got it all up and runing yesterday evening. Going to go with a shorty carbon Yosh can, like on the 900. Still have to paint the fairing to match, and we are going to continue with the flat black stripe over the rest of the bike.

And lastley is my GSXR project. This one is moving a bit slower. I've been on and off this project for one reason or another all year. A few weeks back I pulled it out of the corner and knocked the dust off it. It was all down hill from there.

The overgrown subframe got a taste of the sawzall. While the rest of the frame felt the rath of an angle grinder and sanding wheels.

The patient preped for surgery

in for recovery

A few offending obsticales. Salt corrodied bolt in the upper shock mount and some previously drilled holes and a stuck sheet metal screw from a previously installed air shifter.

Fair Play mate, you've gone to town on that polishing! Getting that casting shit off the headstock must have been a killer!?
What tank is that you're sticking on it? Looks a bit like a bandit but seems too rounded. It sure as hell ain't a slingy tank!

Yup, Late model Bandit 6 tank. the one with the goofy triangle at the subframe. Forks are Showa's from an SP-2 and the swinger is R1.

I'm actually thinking of binning the tank. I got a rude idea for something a bit different.

nice bikes scrapyard.
Question for ya - What modifications were needed to get the r1 swingarm into the frame?

Scrapyard
22-12-2007, 01:08 PM
Well, not a big fan of Choco cake. But I'll have some pie anytime, lol. I gota give her credit. She's done most of the work, research and parts digging thus far. There were a few nights I'd walk into the garage and she'd be out there diging through the tool box and fitting parts. She's a good girl like that.

Milly,
I had to knock about 1/2 inch off either end of the pivot to make it fit into the frame. I'm going to be taking it to the machineist soon to have one side bored a bit larger to fit some Honda bearings. The chain side uses a smaller OD bearing then the other. The pivot bearings from my 900RR do fit the pivot axle, and the other side of the swinger. Still have to figure out the shock. thinking of going with a 600RR unit. Then it's a matter of figuring out spacers and linkages. Cross that one when I get there.

Youve got a good one then Scrapy. My hubby aint to fond of me using his toolbox, slightly posesive about them shall we say !!
Not to worry he's good at what he does so i tell him what i think would go best and he does the work. Gotta love him 4 that.
Merry christmas, hope you got lots of xmas pud, oh, i mean pie !!
