So I decided in all my wisdom that since it was such a sterling day, shorts and t-shirt were the order of the day. After all it's only 7 or 8 k's each way to school right?

Well exiting the ring road on a nice tight (normally enjoyable) corner, I spotted a caulking gun tube in my path. I made the necessary adjustments to miss it only to discover the contents had been sprayed onto the road right where I was riding. And the rest is history...

Yep the ankle is broken from hitting the armco railing. I also got 3 stitiches in the right knee from the same railing. Happy days. The good part is, panadeine forte and endone have me smiling. I can also tell you I sucked the fuck our of the NO2 while they were scrubbing the shit out of me. I don't remember much of that except the damn hiccups!

I see it all the time on the Gold Coast. I should take this photo with me and give it to the blokes I see riding in shorts, T-shirts and thongs. I mean, this will NEVER happen to them will it? I've always worn the gear, no matter how close. Not worth the risk. Hopefully you learnt your lesson this time Stu. Sorry to see it happen mate and hope the sting wears off soon. Get ready for the sticking to sheets bit, it sucks.

You poor bastard. That looks bloody painful.
I learnt my lesson a long time ago and some wise words shortly after have stuck with me and have saved me from some horrific injuries.

Dress for the crash, not the ride!

Hope things improve for you soon, mate.

what they all said, fucking ouch all right.
i had a couple of small offs when i was younger without gear, and without any major damage to myself. I always wear gear now because i remember tossing up (not off) whether or not to wear my gear for a quick ride home. I got hit by a car on that ride home, broke my scaphoid, but it would have been a lot worse without it.
Heal quick, Stu.

Been there done that! The tropics are a hell of a place to ride a bike. I did t-shirt, shorts ,and thongs when I was a young turkey, and after a couple [yes, didn't learn the first time] of nasty, gravel induced offs, and a visit or two to the gravel wound scrubbing centre, I changed my ways. Still got the scars on my forearms
I feel your pain dude, good drugs only go so far.
How's the bike??

Yeh i did that to my whole left side from the ankle up when my foot got stuck under the bike in a slide and i was wearing long pants and a jacket. Id like to say it didnt help much but i woulda been a lot worse with shorts an a beater on.

Thanks guys, I havent been to look at the bike. The copper at the scene was surprisingly nice about the whole thing, but he couldnt tell me about the bike because in his words "I know fuck all about them mate". Im hoping its just cosmetic, but either way its as good a reason as any to do some mods to it now isnt it! Feel free to sugest ductails you think would look good on it And easy to install front ends too. Must be time for some USD fork action.

Anyway time for sleep, the drugs are starting working gain.
