Good Evening Blokes,
As anyone who has followed the Kat at AFR knows, the head gasket is gooone
So wanting to freshen up the motor while have it out. Nothing too drastic, would be good to get change out of $1000 i can.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SUZUKI-GSX1100-BIG-BORE-WISECO-RACING-KIT-1326cc-HI-COMP-US-GS1100-4V-nos-/150804235198?pt=AU_Motorcycle_Parts_Accessories&hash=item231ca203be
saw this on ebay, its a lot more radical than what I want but is this the sort of price to expect? Anyone have recommended places/ brands?
should note l have a full gasket kit + flatslides already sitting on a shelf ready to go;)
Ps- also got some swing arm bearings jock LOL
Pps- THANKS

frimp the comps a bit high for street imo and price isnt good enough to make it worth it for wiseco
btw if u want to use check that for that 1326 u dont need liners as well i know the gpz 1100 if u go over 1170
u need liners and they are over 70 each plus machineing(cases need to be done as well as just the barrells)
for what yr doing just 1100 something over bore would be the go but i only really know kwaka air cooled some the suz boys will know
i would look to the drag raceing boys and they love mtc pistons etc not many use wiseco at all

u think something along these lines?
http://www.mtceng.com/mtcproducts/products/pistons/suzuki/gs1150
definitely road going and not too silly
obviously this would be a good time to be doing camchain. should i do valveseats, springs, camshafts etc etc?

You can go to 1133 or 1168cc on the standard liners, any bigger (& you can go a LOT bigger on these motors) & you'll need bigger sleeves & case boring or an aftermarket big block.
If you can source an EFE (1135cc) cylinder block, they can be bored to 1270cc on the stock sleeves, you'll still need to bore the cases for the Effie block though.
If you freshen the moteur up, the bike will be faster so you'll need more wind protection so
PUT THE FUCKING SCREEN BACK ON.

fimp money really stacks up fast with these motors as u go up and as tk say you can go nuts
the early kwaka and early suz motors are the back bone of the drag racing seen
1600 pro stock any1 ? 700 th lift cams
the gpz 1230 im building is worth relisitly 4500 and up for the rebuild but i will have a real word 130 to 150 rhp air cooled motor
that will run hard for over 100 000 k and i mean as hard as i can give it as its based on 30 yrs of drag raceing and roller cranks
are yr friend in these motors
if you are really going to up grade the running gear it would be great to build the bigger power
but most the power out my motor is from the head work and thats just $1000 in the ports alone then i have the bigger inlet valves, k liners and seals and new tool steel buckets to add to that :-(
just a freshen up and maybe a clean up of the ports with a over bore out to the 1133 or 1168
yr flat slides (what ones btw ?) and a dyna s or dyna 2000 is the ticket imo
and i like the mtc product : well made , race proven and a very far price, in some cases cheeper than wisco and a dam site cheeper than other race brands , simon used them in his
it helps my motor builder scotty was the 1st bloke to sell them in oz lol

Looks interesting.
Cant remember how big you can go on small bore ET/Kat/SD engines
and how big you can go on original EF/EFE big bore barrels though ?
...or if you need to open up the top crank case ?
Only thing i'd question would be the compression for a street motor.
I would expect a smart person to be able to get around that,
maybe using a "chunky" base gasket / spacer gasket under the
barrels that i've seen to drop the compression on Old Skool turbo bikes.

I've heard from reliable sauces that 1427cc is the optimum size for the good zuki moteurs before you start to need gay shit like dot heads and stud girdles.

get the fuckin engine OILTIGHT, and while i have it open measure pistons etc to figure out wtf is currently in there
cos frankly, i dont know if its been tinkered with already
butt....
i fried the stator at AFR trying to keep up with the young guns on their fancy new rocketships
ordering a new one from electrosport (unless anyone knows of a better supplier)
im keen to get a fresh set of coils into it, would one of you wise-ones have used anything in the past with success?
dyna?
cant wait for cooma :)

Mob in Geelong (small coil rewinds 0352788454 ) will wind your stator with some improvements, you'd have to ring to find out cost but good blokes , also repair ignitors etc. Had word done in the past but dont know anyone there. Was good service a few years back.

You can go to 1166cc on the original liners. On the Z/GPZ motors I use GSXR1052 liners to resleeve upto 1260cc, they're cheaper than buying new sleeves, and are quite plentiful and you can overbore them to 78mm 1260cc with no issues at all.

If you want to look up Suzuki, Honda or KTM parts try this site http://www.boltonmotorcycles.com
(http://www.boltonmotorcycles.com/)It's a Vic based company so you'll get the actual fiche for your model.
If you're after Kawasaki microfiche http://mototech.com.au/ although they don't have a lot of years listed but they're slowly expanding...

I was out with a guy on a Kat this morning.
I think he said.....
EF bottom end,
EF barrels,
Bandit 12 liners,
Busa pistons,
GSXR750 slingshot carbs,
The name "Joe Marshall" was mentioned.
Sounded bloody excellent !

I'm running Wiseco 1166 kit @ 10.25-1 comp had the K&N pods on it. Dyna green coils, Taylor leads, dyna S ignition. Made good HP and great torque. Then I turbo'd it. Hehe.

(http://www.dynoman.net/ignition/dynaS.html)is it worth getting the whole kit with the ignition or is the std ignition ok for non-silly power?
bike definitely not charging so electrosport stator on order
keen to know also tony

I got dyna S on a rf600 with mechanical advance works a treat , but one pickup died 14 months ago. Seem's to work just fine asside of that, most of the cart boys I know use em with there 4 cyl meth fueled jiggers, Usally with 3 ohm coils. I cant see anything wrong with using the stock coils , if there working fine now will only be as good or better with the dyna pickups (I would imagine).

I've b een using Dyna S on my ET for years with good results. They definitely seem to be the ignition of choice with these old brutes. Having said that though they still use the mechanical bob weights and I had a very frustrating and expensive experience with the S when the glue holding the magnet in the rotor failed and the magnet protruded and hit one of the pick ups causing it to fail and only fire on two cylinders. Took me two ignition units before I discovered that little foible. Ho Hum. Also the S doesn't incorporate a rev limiter so if you value your engine you'll need to source a rev limiter which, arguably, puts the cost nearer the Dyna 2000 mark. Also preferred option is to use with Green Dyna coils and Taylor leads. Good healthy, fat and RELIABLE spark with that set up.

What's an EF's stroke ? 66mm ?
What's a Gen1 Busa's bore ? 81mm ?
1360 ? Using Suzuki parts.
