500ml will be heaps mate - 1:1 with thinners, and you'll get a good couple coats and some for touchups.

acrylic, why use this ,its very old out dated system,2 pak its so much easier to use ,,ok are you spraying it a straight colour or metalic

I thought 2 pak was as toxic as fuck (carcinogenic too) and shouldn't be used without decent breathing apparatus/spray booth??

Happy to be educated cause I've done some really shit paint jobs with acrylic and wouldn't mind an easier way.

ive been using 2 pak for about 22yrs ,,buy yourself a good mask to wear ,those little paper ones are no good,if youve got all the prep down and all is smooth ,its easy as 1,2,3 to paint ,base coats are flat colours that need a clear over them ,painters call it clear over base, etc ,you use colour hardner, reducer,a fancy name for thinners

just spray it on not to heavy for the 1st ,2nd coat ,make sure you give it a coat of clear when your done ,ass black shows lots of scratches ,when dry ,and the clear will protect it,

if you plan on buffing it wait a week then rub it back with 2000,paper and soapy water ,the use cutting compound to buff it up ,just dont rub on the lines or ridges on the tank

Righto, black is on. We plan on putting a clear coat over it, so do we still follow the same instructions that you've listed Pete. And is any clear ok or do we have to use a specific one for acrylic?

only use acrylic clear over acrylic give the black a rub down with 1200 before you clear and thin down your clear a bit more after say 3 coats & it will be a lot smoother & easier to buff & if you have never buffed a tank take it slow & steady or you will be back where you started in 2 seconds flat if you get it wrong ,just be carefull when filling your tank as fuel will turn acrylic to shit very quick .

I can vouch for that, fucked mine with about three drips a few days after painting it.

Yep, acrylic and fuel sucks. My old Zed had a permanent dribble mark.

Is it actually "Ass black" like Pete says?

As Pav said.

Unless pete swallowed a whole lot of blood I'd bet "Ass Black" is more a choc brown.

2pack contains Isocyanate....a particle mask doesn't stop these fumes...and the nasty shit builds up in your system....air fed or brain dead....your choice

as it reads do not paint 2pak without correct mask it will screw you if you swallow enough of the stuff but i wouldnt put anything on a tank accept 2pak if you want it to last
