The BMC do flow more! At least on the ZX14.
I've heard people say go for the K&N because you have to clean the BMC too often.
So by that I would say don't go the K&N as if it's not getting as dirty it's not working.
Anyway I've still got my stock filter in that they put in at the service for $60+, I plan on getting my km outta that bs.

i had a BMC filter in my SV and when i changed back to the stock one i noticed a difference... might have been more the noise change made me think there was a difference... but there was something there.

Can someone tell me what some of the fork & shock upgrade options are?

I have read about fitting ZX10 forks but specially made triple clamps are needed apparently? I would like to go an easier way if possible unless this conversion can be done with stock ZX10 triple clamps maybe?
According to the part numbers the 94 - 97 ZX9R front wheel etc is the same, Are the ZX9 forks any better than the ZXR 750 forks?
Its certainly not going to be a race bike so im not looking at spending $1000 on forks, I just want a tidier set of forks maybe with slightly better internals

Same with the shock, I have read that a ZX10 shock will bolt on if the holes are drilled from 10mm to 12mm, Anyone running a ZX10 shock?

ZX7 forks go in with out to much dicking around, you just need the ZX7 bottom triple and a spacer made up fore the front wheel. With the ZX7 forks you get rebound, compresion, and preload ajustmend. ZXR,s only have preload and rebound ajustment., and you get to run 6 pot brakes not the 4 pots you have. As for the zx10 shock i have one sitting her if you want to have a look and mesure but one thing i do know about the shock upgrade is that the resavoir will interfear with the battery box so you will have to sort something out with that. My bike will be here tomorrow so you welcome to have a look to see what you will need ZX7 forks all ready in place

ZX7 forks might be the go then

Thats a bummer the way the battery box hangs right down where an upgraded shock would fit, From what I have read the ZX10 shock is 10mm shorter so you adjust the top mount & its all good, Making one fit though is the hassle, An Ohlins or similar with the remote reservoir is about the only option really without modifications

Waiting for a heap of goodies to arrive then I might get around to starting a build thread I spose & get some progress pics, Not much to see really just yet but its getting there, Not even 2 weeks & its really starting to take shape, It has not cost all that much either really & I have heaps of new parts on it already

Timbo, I would love to drop round & have a look but im afraid I wont want to leave without the ZXR you are building

Pav, Was that a set of ZX7R forks you landed for $225?

I re-fitted the second set of carby's last night & gave it a run, Revs out nice now but still did not want to drop the revs down back to idle properly some times, I sprayed a bit of cats piss around the carby boots and the idle picked up so I have ordered some (44mm ID x 2mm) Viton o-rings & that will hopefully sort that out

I know the carby's are clean & dialed in pretty close as it would hardly start before & mostly had to use the choke just to get it to fire, Now just a quick hit of the button cold & it fires straight up without the choke, Just need the choke to warm it up though of course

I have started collecting some engine parts, I am just buying random (BRAND NEW) bits & pieces that I come across cheap, I wont be doing the rebuild til next year but I want to get a lot of parts before I start rather than having a stripped down motor waiting for parts, Without having it stripped down though I can only guess what I will need? Timing chain & guides etc would be a good start I spose?

I decided to do the 520 chain conversion, With all the weight reduction going on it should help reduce the need for the larger chain
I have a new Renthal ultralight 15 tooth front sprocket & a new AFAM alloy 45 tooth rear sprocket on the way, Got them for just under $70 incl delivery
I need to track down a good chain
looking at the RK XSO or the EK MVXZ, Anyone using one of these?

Im getting a bit of a list of new parts happening, Its basically going to be like a new bike soon the way im going

Due to the lack of input/advice (apart from our friend above) I decided to go with the EK MVXZ 520 chain, Apparently the strongest & reasonably priced too ($140)

Im currently making spaghetti......................................... ...................Out of my wiring, Nah it looks easier than I thought it would be, I got sick of looking at it hanging out the right hand side of the motor, I will start by deleting the 6 dozen earth wires heading up towards the speedo/dash setup & also deleted the extra headlight wiring, Going to delete other wires that I wont need from the original dash setup & shorten it all up as much as possible & tuck it all out of the way

Hopefully some of my goodies turn up this week so I can get some progress pics

Firstly im no longer delivering pizza's, I just became a member, Wooohooo, Hey there's pictures in this forum?

I received my new Danmoto Jisu ZX9 muffler today, Looks nice & matches my current paint scheme, Then my new Delkevic headers turned up a few hours later, Couldnt have timed it better, Turns out that the Delkevic headers dont have any perforated tubing like the OEM / stock header so even though Delkevic headers are made to stock specs they will certainly flow better than a stock header

I will probably have to muck around with the link pipe to get the muffler sitting in the correct spot considering it is a ZX9 system?

start a build thread its easier to give advice with a pic attached ,the wiring loom will sit inside the right frame rail no probs and is heaps tidier.

Yeah im getting round to starting a build thread, I dont have any other pics yet, When all my goodies show up in the next week or so it will start to look like something & I will be able to get some worthwhile pics, I might get the thread started though anyway, Its a good way to keep track of what I have done/spent

Just a bit worried about running the wiring up the rightside near the throttle cable, If it happens to move over on to the idle screw it will make for a fun bit of riding & the need for new undies, Going to have to pin it against the inside of the frame in that area I think

pav69

i have mine wrapped up & once tidied up the loom becomes much thinner & easier to tuck away

The conduit that was on it was approx 28mm OD so hopefully I can get it down around 20mm

I have fitted the Delkevic headers & sat the muffler & link pipe roughly in place, I should get away with welding just a short adapter to go into the clamp area on the end of the headers to get the muffler connected, Easier than what I thought it would be anyway, I thought I would need to have a new link pipe made up

Sounds good but I need pic's. The 520 chain will be fine I run it on the turbo no hassle

NINJAINOZ

Yeah the chain is probably overkill for now really, Probably could have just gone with a chineesee cheap chain for half the price but may as well do it properly from the start

I want pics too dont worry but at the moment it looks like a big pile of garbage spread across a shed, I thought I will just do this then found that needs doing then I thought gee it would look good if I do that bit then find something else.......you know how it is
Next thing you know its nearly all in pieces, I got a bit carried away, Not a bad thing though I think part of the scheduled maintenance was to smear grease all over everything??? So now it is getting a degrease & clean wherever I can get to

I will hopefully have it back together in the next few days & it should be looking a lot better than it is now

Thought I would add a pic in here for those that are not members & are not able to view the build thread>
http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/showthread.php?24434-1994-zxr-750

Some of the stuff you can see (Or not see?) that has been fitted
Shorty levers
Pro-Grip 732 grips
Motion Pro throttle cable
Polisport MMX Headlight
LED blinkers
Delkevic Headers
Danmoto muffler
HEL Clutch & rear brake hose
EBC HH rear brake pads

http://i1250.photobucket.com/albums/hh540/NINJAINOZ/ZXR750 FIGHTER BUILD/ZXR750RADIATORON_zps69ae4c06.jpg

I have fitted some FLY AERO tapered SX bend bars (much lower than the ones pictured) after this pic so the left grip is now on
Im going to do the ZX7R frontend / fork conversion very soon, I have the Calipers, Lower triple Clamp & front guard on the way, I just need the fork tubes to sort it out & I can then order the HEL front brake hoses

A new OEM style UNI filter is in the Airbox
Just about to put in some larger main & pilot jets in the carby's & some new Viton o-rings (44mm ID x 2mm) on the carb manifold boots

Getting closer, Need to sort out the speedo & fit the fender eliminator bracket (when it gets here) & rear LED blinkers, I got hold of a clear style LED taillight also
