Maybe someone can help me out on this one?Looking at the big bore kits for the gsxr1127 oil cooled, bloody expensive ?Is it possible to use the pistons from a Bandit 1200s,1250,the stroke is the same and the pistons look the same ?They re a damn site cheaper aswell ?

What prices are you looking at? I got a set of 1216's for 550 which wasn't too bad at all. THat way you know that all the rings etc are new as well.

How much have you been quoted?

I've been told Busa pistons fit, but they'll lower your compression ration so you'll prolly need a turbo to make up the power loss

:D

Looking at the Ape Pistons,There s not that many, maybe 3 or 4 other companies that do the bore kits. They all seemed bloody expensive?Whereas the standard pistons new for the bandit where around $53 Aus each ?Why don t people use them ?

No offence dude but I don't believe you, I'd be expecting around $150 each. Then add gaskets pin and clips etc. However if u can find them for that price then by all means.

Sorry that was $48 U.S. each for the piston,I can t see the rings and pins costing an extra $100.The gaskets I have already. But back to the original question,do they fit ?

It appears that no one has done the exercise.

From my own experience ordering custom big bore pistons from Arias when I was at Rocket, here are a few basic dimensions you need to check first.

The diameter of the gudgeon pin.

Deck height. That's measured from the centre of the gudgeon pin bore to the top of the piston.

Skirt length. Measured front and back of piston from top to the bottom of the piston skirt.

Once you've confirmed that these three basics are in the ballpark, then you can get down to the specifics of the the piston crown shape including the position and depth of valve pockets.

Try to find a Suzuki dealer who has both pistons in stock and will let ypu fondle and measure them side-by-side.

Good luck with it.

Let us know how you get on.

Have fun,
Mick
