View Full Version : Wanted: pitbike engine or complete bike
Hi chaps,
Aquired a project today- oldschool QA50 like this one:

Apparently 2nd gear is a bit dodgy, so im thinking a pitbike motor is the go..
If anyone has something floating around let me know.

you might struggle with a pit bike motor i tried to put one in my zedda and it hit the front wheel A mate of mine is running his regoed Z50 with a 125cc pit bike motor, he has recently installed a 185cc big bore kit.... and he has no dramas with the tyre hitting the head, might have something to do with his choice of tyres though....

Mud gaurd would get in the way with most of the bigger pitbike motors , longer forks and a gaurd that hugs the tyre more will make a 150cc zonsteen motor fit there is one here in shep punting about with the 150 stuffed into a registered Z50 on road tyres.
Same dude has a early honda 90 with 150 cc motor in it to , running spoked wide scooter rims on honda hubs with something like 140/70/14 tyres. Used to see him punting down the causeway between mooroopna and shep doing about 100.
Sounds like a 110 or 125 is the go.. Would a shot of nitrous kill them?!
Should be a fun little thing!

Should be a fun little thing! From what I understand they will handle a small shot.... Don't blame me if it blows up....;)

You can buy "Mini Nitrous kits" on the bay of E that use small bulbs similar to the whiped cream Nitrous. I wouldnt bother , I really doubt you will ever use the power out of a 125 in the frame you have asside of maybe a "Oh fuck" blat down some bitumen .
You're probably right adam.. would be overkill!
Had a great offer from Scotty, but his place is miles and miles away(Myrtleford), does anyone happen to get up that way at all?
If anyone else has/knows of anything(preferably a 110, with auto clutch) let me know!
