My first Streetfighter zx9(bladerod style)

Since spotting bladerod years ago, ive always wanted to build something similar, I love the simplicity of it, plus living on the sunshine coast most custom bikes are harleys/Big Bears, so I managed to pick up a 1998 zx9 that had been sitting in a shed for a few years, a set of jumper leads and Spray of brake cleaner down the carbs and she fired up, let the project begin
here she is when i got her home

lol cheers, i actually hate the radiator, way to big, but the bike came extreamly cheap, so im happy,
any way here it is more progress shots

then frame/ engine painted plus headlight on
2002

took the exhaust off wanted something short so i bought a 2"resonator and welded that in

was still to noisy so i got some smaller diameter muffler piping(the holy stuff) welded that onto a removable tip and packed it with muffler packing, now it is actually pretty quiet, and sounds good, plus I cut even more off the subframe
2006

and here it is how it stands today after only a week, I put the headlights back further in the bracket, vinyl wrapped the tank in carbon wrap, now I need to wait till monday to get some more alloy to finish the sub frame, then im getting the seat made smaller, then a few small things like brake pads/chain ect

paint is still rough and lots of little stuff, Im still undecided on what to do with wheels, tempted to go bright green or blue just to be different or stick with black or black with polished shoulders,

yay just worked out how to do bigger pictures, I also have a rear hugger coming from the states and rear blinkers as well, pictures dont do the carbon wrap justice,

My bike's now bear except for the wiring harness and motor, now I'm avoiding going near it.

yeah I wanted it on the road real quick, I havent riden in 5 years and miss it, once the novelty wears off or I get my hands on another bike, ill strip it bare and go full crazy on it,

Bad idea bringing the bike to work today it's past 2 and I havent done any work, although I've finished my subframe, pics up tonight

So I thought I would clean up the rear end I didnt like the cut off ends, i thought I would make a tidy little tail piece, so i bought a piece of alloy and cut V's in it and bent it into what I thought would look good

took it home but was not happy with it went back to work today and made it smaller and am much happier with itjust need to cut the seat down

I still haven't decided how im going to mount the number plate and the indicators are dummies until mine arrive

a few years back i mounted my plate on the back of the battery box on my bandit i rode it like that for 2 years without any dramas from the cops

next up, radiator overflow bottle, polish the shoulders of the wheels, and cut seat down,

My upholster is away for another 2 weeks so I decided to cut my seat down myself and stapled it back together, feels and looks heaps better also still waiting on my rear hugger, been tracking it for the last 1.5weeks, it hasnt moved from miami since Monday:(, making new spacers for rear wheel tomorrow and fitting new chain, also new pads and billet levers should arrive monday, might actually feel a little safe on it then

wow previous owner was so dodgy with this bike, back wheel is suppose to have 4 spacers in it, only 3 were in there and only 1 was the right one, so I made up all new spacers and fitted a new chain, also got my indicators in, all the wiring was done dodgy with speaker wire and pretty well had to completly rewire them, also mounted number plate futher back, I have a idea were i want it but need my rear guard to turn up to try in

Small update, I completely cut the subframe off and remade a smaller neater one(just need to make a newer slimmer battery box now) made up a overflow bottle out of a drink bottle, and im still undecided on what to do with the wheels, I sprayed them up quickly blue today and I dont mind it,
