Sad news I'm afraid, just heard that Bob Stevenson founder of Spondon Engineering unfortunately died of a heart attack on Saturday morning at his home in Cyprus.

The guy was a true legend and a brilliant engineer, I was priveledged to have known him,

He has left a MASSIVE legacy to the motorcycling world of which I doubt he'll be ever forgotten as a character and an engineer of OHHH so lovely a motorcycle. Hall of Fame Legend! R.I.P.

Thank you for all of the messages on this thread. It is really heartwarming to see how far his legacy travels. Just as a note, the funeral went very well and was a great attendance. We, as the remaining family have finally laid him to rest by scattering a large portion of his ashes at his favourite racing circuit (Darley Moore) on Sunday 12th August. The remaining ashes will travel to Cyprus to be in the sun. As a final sign off from me, can i just say a big thankyou to Mr Burns. I know your time was very tight to attend the funeral & i hope you made your flight. I'm sure all of the family share my sentiments.
I am not a huge motorcycle fan (apart from watching racing) i am just privaliged to have become part of the old buggers family.

Sorry for your loss.
Good things travel well, and Bob was testament to that.
I hope the memories are safe and the smiles will return.

He's left his mark on the Streetfighter scene.
Come back in a year, 5 years, ten years or more,
Folk'll still be talking of him and his work.

The world would be a better place with a few more like him.
