I'm after a XJR1200 (or 1300 if they fit) for a 96 model.

The other option is to see if the 98-01 R1 gold spot calipers fit? Has anyone tried this before?

After looking into it, the hole centres are the same, but the mounting angles for the bolts are way off :(
Both are 84mm centres

Possibly the 1300 mounting bracket but the axle hole is bigger for the R1 type wheel fitted

Get ya friendly Yam dealer to print of the rear wheel/disc brake pics from the parts dept
You might be able to gauge it from there.
Then call Formaz Partsplus in NSW and ask for Mark(tell him Russell told you to call)
He is real helpful and has a late model in for breaking and very good price and service.

After a bit more research, the R1 and XJR1300/FZR1000 rear callipers are different.

THe R1 carrier is held in place by the swingarm, the XJR/FZR is held by a torsion bar like the 1200. So it looks like the XJR1300 or FZR1000 calliper and bracket would work with a spacer on the axle, and maybe alter the width of the bracket if they are different over the axle.

I managed to find one in a Vic wreckers for a fair price, so I think i'll stay with the original one this time.

note to self, check the bolts holding the torsion bar to the caliper bracket, otherwise lock-ups and stuffed callipers are the result. The bolt for the rear shock caught the calliper so no swingarm damage :D Kept it upright as well.

Thanks for the suggestions.
