Anyone know a good place to buy chains and sprockets? Looking for a set for an 08 R6. I'm not sure if there were more than 1 model released that year. He wants to go -1 & +2 on the gearing

Bike shops are quite good for that stuff, in my opinion RK make the best of them.

Bike shops tend to open after I go to work and close before I leave. LOL

I'll see if I can pop in to one on Sat

Really ?

You must have better shops than the piss poor one's up here in Qld.
I find most are overpriced, badly stocked and have little product knowledge.

Haha I called up a dealer in canberra the other day looking for a titanium bung for an o2 sensor for the exhaust I explained to him what it was for and he still had no idea what I wanted but said he'd see what he could do, 2 days later he called me back said he had no luck, I'd be surprised if he even bothered chasing it up.
On another occasion I booked the bike in for a service with them, arrived about 10:30am they said i was too late??? Asked when they could do it they said about a month, I'd already waited a fortnight. Called up there shop on the other side of town asked if they could fit it in said no worries.... Really pissed me off, I asked the silly bitch behind the desk when I should get there and they knew I was an hour away.
Anyway for kawasaki parts I need in a hurry I shop at mototech.com.au they ship out quick n cheap.
For everything else there's a wealth of internet based companies that are competitive in price and have fast shipping and that long forgotten part "customer service"

I got mine from Superbike supply (www.superbikesupply.com.au (http://www.superbikesupply.com.au)), they do a kit with front & rear Vortex sprockets and a top of the range RK chain for $250 which I thought was pretty good!

Short answer USA!

NOOOOOO!!! dont buy vortex sprockets, Well especially aluminium (may as well be made of wood) rear ones, The front ones may be OK?>

I buy most stuff from the USA generally because I get better service & sometimes it is even quicker than waiting for a local shop to order stuff in
What size chain/sprockets is on the bike now?

Quick example, This kit is about $50ish cheaper than the one mentioned above>

I paid around $200 (Incl postage from the USA) for an EK MVXZ 520 Chrome 120 link chain, An AFAM rear sprocket & a Renthal ultralite front sprocket
Just the EK X-ring chain sells for $200 in Australia, Stuff that

OH old thread too Im guessing Wacky got it sorted by now?

i have always used vortex alloy rear sprockets and never had an issue just make sure you buy the hard anodised one

http://www.sprocketcenter.com/ really depends on what you want I was after a DID ZVMX 530 and sprockets and it was the best price I could find at the time.
I've heard the same about the Vortex sprockets only it turns out the people are using the plain sprockets not the anodized ones.

I have a Vortex rear sprocket, similar to the design that you have here and had no issues. And I do tend to pop the odd wheelie every so often too.

As for chain and sprockets, I bought from Mono (Motorcycle Tyre Warehouse), great pricing and service as always

The Superbike supply kit is a 520 conversion with an RK GB520GXW chain (which I've been told is about $240 retail alone) and Vortex lights sprockets with any combination of teeth you want!

Yeah sounds like a pretty good deal with that chain but that chain alone for $240 would be a typical Aus OVERprice im guessing?
This would be a bit more reasonable>

Don't like RK, it's DID or EK.

The EK MVXZ had the highest rated specs/strength compared to similar chains when I looked around so I went with that

Manufacturers ratings don't really mean a lot.
