From my memory (crap rusty brain, and not enough booze to fuel it atm) I'd bet $50 its around a 1984-85 the TT, XT, and SRX600 motors have most parts interchangable all based on the same motor TT was kicker only the SRX (I have one is elec and kicker).

Power output can be streched to above 80hp but it will be very peaky (and potential grenade) , pull the stock carbs drop a set off a zzr250 (I think) for good compromise of total output and some bottom end still. High comp piston, off the shelf item and a reground cam and your away. An open pipe will help and if its track only a megaphone with reversion cone will improve things.

I'm about to strip the SRX motor and do a full rebuild on it, I'll be aiming for about 60 odd hp tops but might strap a little 10 hp nos on it for fun in the "Up parts" of the local hills.

Yeah its 85 onwards there the same internally up till about 96 your may or maynot have a chrome bore , the xt and srx were just a liner early tt are chrome bore slugs in high comp up to about 12 to 1 are off the shelf 95 , 96 , 97 mm overbore are easy 101 mm is a resleave and about 10.5 to 1. Not sure what a TT put out stock but the SRX which was based on the xt600e motor pumped out 33 hp stock doesnt sound like much be they would pull the ton and rode ok.

Up to 60 65 hp is doable and it will live ok as long as you treat it right. Above than things get dicey. Strap and oil cooler to it and it will love you .

Awesome info guys thanks a lot. Will get onto findapart and see if I can find a CDI unit for a 85 to 96 TT. Will make a thread eventually and post some pictures of the build :)

Thanks
Again for the help

Back in the day when supermono's were being raced,i think the biggest problem putting big singles into the RGV frames was that frames were fatiguing, and cracking from the vibes from the big singles???
I reckon they'd be a great ride tho...

Top rear engine mount broke with standared motors, i'd be bracing the crap out of all the mounts.

There is a good reason they have a mount at the top of the motor, leaverage every mount counts. Just like roots !
