Iv got a bit of a thing for Italian bikes, Ducati are way out of my budget, but the MV, might be just within my reach next year, or do I get a Fazer this year knowing that I'll spend shit loads on it (because I carn't leave anything stock) & regret not just getting the MV. This will be my first road bike & it needs to be my daily ride & do some touring on week ends.

Whats your opinon of the two ?

I do like the look of the Bandit but like the Fazer, I'll change alot of shit & at 250kgs it could use a diet too.
How much HP do they have ? At just over $12.000 the're certainly worth concidering.

i sat on a brutalle at the dealer up here, yeah there nice and yeah there are not many on the roads, but lets take into account services ,and say it fell over ,you know the old stand into the tar ,if it breaks a lever they write the thing off ,give me a jap bike which is cost effective in so many more ways then having a bike like this

and a big for instance ,a bloke riding with us a few weeks back stepped of his aprilla tony ,,and it broke his left hand clip on and clutch lever and had grass scatches on the plastics on the left ,its now a stat write off,,fuck it broke $100 in parts and scratched the clear ,lol, but bc it came from over there ,everything is worth a zillion $

Thats my problem, If I get a fazer, Bandit or Bking I'll be adding something to it every few months (Brembos, ohlins, Marchesini, carbon & any other shit I can think of). If I get the MV I'll get a belly pan & throw a pipe on it, it already has all the good shit that Im after. It comes down to a 20k jap bike or a 20k itialian bike, I could have a jap bike in 3 to 4 months or get the MV in 12 months. You can put lip stik on a pig but its still a pig:D

Dont get me wrong, I love jap bikes, there great value for money, witch leaves you with plenty of room for mods but then theres the other end of the spectrum... Ducati (streetfighter). They look good, sound good, charge like a bull with his balls tied but you (almost) see one on every corner. MV is somewhere in the middle of all of this, its an italian through bred with jap bike performance & its 7k cheaper than the Duke. Its still a lot of money but I think I'll be satisfied with my purchase. I must admit that if I get a Fazer or Bking, half the fun is the mods, somehow I just dont think my wife will under stand:rolleyes:lol

So I was on the money about buying a fighter like bike, mybe net rider is more the forum you are looking for.
Just because the Ducati is called a streetfighter it doesn't make it one, if your woman doesn't understand lay out a budget, if it's Italian you want streetfighter one because a streetfighter is a modification not a brand name.
Oh and every fighter I have built is a porn star a packet streetfighter would be the whore.

Now you got me thinkn about a Fazer again (Im a Yamaha guy), I could get it sooner, ride it for a year & then slowly add the bling (so my wife dosn't notice lol). The biggest thing I find appealling about the MV & Duke is the single sided swing arm, can that be done to a Fazer ?

If you're a Yamaha man, then buy yourself an R1 and fighter it. More power than the fazer. Single sided s/arm can be done on any bike, some might require more work than others. It also all depends on how handy you are with tools.

My current project is a long termer. K4 Gixxer thou which I'm fitting an MV Brutale tail, custom triples and wanna make a billet Single sided s/arm.

Bit far from where I am (northern suburbs). But few people on here would be willing to help out if needed. Anything from ideas to helping out hands on. You could also pay someone to do the work for you if you are that way inclined.

The main thing of Streetfighters are as the others said 'Built not bought'. If you ever need any help, there's plenty of people with opinions on here, some you may agree with and others not.

B king ,basically a naked busa with a diff gearbox

B-King has 100% same motor internals as the later Gen2.
Difference is only in the airbox / exhaust and ECU externals.
They use the same gear box, only difference is the finish
or coating on some visible parts.

The B-King only shares the Gen2 Busa's engine, wheels,
forks, brakes and a few minor parts, the fact that the B-King's
longer, heavier, and has a smaller tank range and is not great for
pillions means that a naked Busa would be a better bike in some ways.

I`ll throw a cat amongst pigions,

have you thought about the new Aprilia Tuono V4 R?

I took one of these for a ride last week for just over half an hour...fuck I love this thing. I rode the old v twin a few years ago, and didn`t think much of it,and wouldn`t have given them a second look.

I originaly went in to test ride a Bking..and did, heaps of low down torque...yeah but! Then the sales bloke said "go for a ride on the Tuono and cane it for half an hour" SO I DID.. I wouldn`t even look at a Bking anymore after being on this thing. Almost 170hp,nimble,well ballanced, comfortable, sounds awsome, looks good(IMO) No its not a street fighter, but a factory naked..but another thing to look at if your looking at the Brutale.

One of the Guys I ride with has the Aprilia V4,
well, i think he does, the dealer see's more of it than he does.

Its a lot more "nimble" than my naked Busa or B-King but mine
have a LOT more K's and abuse without giving me any drama's.

There's some great sporty nakeds about but if you like big ponys
and want to find some more, or want to chop it about, go Suzuki.
If your a Coffee Club rider and think "fragile" means "special" go Italian.
Dont like Suzuki's ? The new Z1000's nice and go's real well.

My Busa missed a couple of services,
did a 2000k 3 day ride with a pillion,
had dozens of Sunday run's chasing sportsbikes,
went into a couple of dyno comp's,
and still ran 20+ low 10 second runs !!!

The last Italian bike I tried ( Ducati )
I killed it 15 minutes into a test ride.
Bent the chain adjusters and returned it with
the wheel out of line.

Personal choice. I know mine.

aahhh..how did you do that?

I got load's of sh*t for abusing their demo bike.
(maybe I was a little heavy handed)
Later found out through the trade that a few others had done the same and
that Ducrappy had changed the chain adjusters to better spec free of charge.

Was on a recent ride where a Duc cooked its battery and another local
rider "Chris" just got his near new Aprilia RSV4R back after a full engine rebuild.

as Tony stated its personal choice, Suzuki build some of the best products on the planet,my busa has 106k on the clock and is still as strong as, 99% of european bikes are hand grenades ,or ticking bombs, parts cost way to much ,and there not a good as there portrayed, i know this will fire up the Italian purist here ,but really ,how much does it cost to get your bike serviced by a dealer ,
also ,when you visit a european bike dealer, BMW excluded ,it like your walking into a fucking museum ,its cold and your not welcomed,or aloud to touch anything ,you walk into a jap bike dealer ,and they want you to touch and ride to buy.

i`d never get ride of the bandit..its apart of me,and always will be, i`m always tinkering to try and perfect it for me.. but if looking at another bike,i`d want something exciting. not saying all the main brands aren`t exciting they are,but they are common, and i`d want something different.
to be honest,if norton ever perfect they`re 700cc rotary road bike, that`d be me sold there and then. they tried to bring them back to isle of man with the 588cc,and michael dunlope was to ride it at the 2010 tt,but it had issues. they have been doing alright over the last couple of years with the 588cc,which has about 170-180hp,and the 700cc is supposed to be 200+
personally,i love the sound of it,and it cracks. it`s not a norm, but i suspect it wouldn`t be cheap, and i don`t want it to live at the shop with holes in my pocket, but the key thing here is,if they"perfect it"
