Hey folks,

I am bobbing an 82 GSX1100 and currently it has a pair of Koni shocks but they are too long for my taste.
Can anyone point me in the direction of shorter shocks to suit it?

Thanks in advance

Hardley shocks. Maybe Sportster? There's a gazillion of them on US eGay.

it's not that big of a deal. its all just steel yeah? what's the difference in the mounts?

Unicorn

They slip over and straddle the swingarm

sounds sexy...

So there is pretty much just a hole in the swinger and the shock has a fork that goes over it... what does the sportster have?

Unicorn

yes your description is correct, the sporty has a hole in the swingarm for a bolt to attach.
They wouldnt line up.
I am sure if I do some googling I will find something suitable.

would need more than just a hole, the Hole would need an anti crush tube to stop bolt tention from crushing the swing arm.

sorry gazi shocks
after market rear shocks australian made over seas for a bloke that used to have a wreakers here in brisbane great to deall with
and top of the line rears work out at about $800 half the price of the top brands imo best for the price in after market the yss come in cheaper but gazi have comp and rebound adjust as well as preload and hight adjustment and great back up service.
other than that zrx 1200 or gsx 1400 etc its worth getting piggy back with comp and rebound control the fake well not fake but low spec on the xjr 1300 dont have much in the way of adjustment

yer aus owned, disigned ,r&d and spec but made under contract over seas
i just had a look at yr project and looks like u might not want the pippy back jobys and just go for the standards
they should be a fair bit cheeper, tell him the bloke with the zephyrs in brisbane sent u lol
i looked at a lot of twin shocks and by the time i spent between 200 and 400 for 2nd hand i just ended up going for the gazi's
i think 80s is going to use a set i cant remember if he said he was last time i was talking to him?

Hey mate as Ozzy 1100 said. I've fitted Gazi's to my GSX. I think that they're a good shock, well built, good quality and come in a range of prices. Check the link out below

Try IKON-- made in Australia. It's not going to handle so why lash out on a pair of upmarket shocks.
With a bit of messing around they can be cut shorter than 300. They are often used in the forks of road race sidecars.
They can make springs if they don't have them in stock

As far as I know -- yes.
I had RZ forks on my land speed R1-- they needed weight on front wheel, travel and spring diameter and they made me a pair of springs which were perfect. They do a great job. I think they can put any mounts on.

I got my Bitubo shocks for the ZRX from http://www.pjsparts.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=bitubo&search_in_description=1&x=0&y=0 they cost me $800 delivered, all you do is contact them tell them what you want and they'll give you a quote if you want to get the item you put down a deposit think it was about 25% then when they are ready to ship you pay the remainder, the shocks also comes sprung to your weight if you ask.

Turnaround was 4-6 weeks in my hands, so they order them from the factory in Italy and 4-6 weeks they're in your hands there's also an Aussie company that sells Bitubo, but I enquired about it over the phone and they never got back to me after taking my number and email so screw them.

I haven't tried the shocks yet but all the guys on the ZRXOA that have them say they are the shit and I believe Bitubo is the go to for the TL guys, the finish on them is A1 http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/showthread.php?23699-My-ZRX-Not-Quite-A-Fighter-Build pic of them there.

As for http://www.pjsparts.com (http://www.pjsparts.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=bitubo&search_in_description=1&x=0&y=0) I got onto them through a member of the ZRXOA and I couldn't be happier with the service.

http://www.motorcycle-parts.com.au/ this is the Aussie Bitubo guy, I first contacted them about some Paolo clipons back in october through there website they got back to me about a week before christmas???, then I contacted them in February about getting a set of bitubos and a few other parts but this time I called them talked to them gave them my number and email as they requested it, waited waited still waiting. Wouldn't buy anything off them now.

Anyway someone might fins this useful.
