When I used to race cars years ago there was a product called AZNU Tyre Softener available, I've got a set of wets for my racebike which are new but they're a few years old & have hardened up a bit (unlike me) I wanna track some of the softening shit down & hit 'em with it.
Anybody know where I can get some? Alternatively, does anyone know what else will soften up rubber a bit? I know Hillclimb racers use Dencorub/Deep Heat on their tyres but it feels a bit greasy so I'm not keen to try it on a bike.

Just put the wets on and do a slow lap on them without applying to much gas this will scrub away the surface area which has gone a bit hard , and you can still buy tyre softener I think Go Kart places sell let me know how you go cause I will buy some :D

Dunno about the softener, but when I last got my tyres at "Mad Micks", before he put the wheels back, he used some sort of solvent to wash the waxy coating off the new tyres, they were sticky straight away, maybe give him a call....

That's the go, thanx Ben.
Devo - I did put them on the warmers & did about half a dozen easy laps on a 3/4 wet track, they definately softened up a lot at the time (but nowhere near as soft as a new set) but they've gone hard again now.
Reg - that's just Prepsol (wax & grease remover) he's using to take the slippery mould release compound off, I want to soften the rubber right through. Good bloke to get tyres off though, most of 'em don't even bother & just tell you to take it easy for the first 100 or so KMs. I've lost count of the stories I've heard about blokes highsiding out the front of the tyre shop or losing the front at the first corner because their tyres were all slick like they'd been coated in Armor All.

Thanx Stocky I'll get onto that for sure, do you know if the rubber stays soft for a while after or if it goes hard again?
