Never used anything other than stock factory dash/clocks.

GSX14 one's seem fragile and few and far between in the wreckers.

Looking at aftermarket. Have a limited budget but dont want to go
too cheap and nasty (Pushy speedo)
maybe something like a Vapor or Koso or ????

How much can i wire into the smashed clocks multi-plug,
using the bike's signals from the stock loom ?
In an ideal world id like to wire everything up to the stock
plug and make them a direct replacement.

How many things will stop me?
Stuff like main beam, indicators, neutral etc should be real easy.
Speedo? Fuel guage? Temp guage?
Whats going to need its own feed ?

....and whilst im here......
How much work would it be to use GSXR/Bandit/other Suzuki clocks ?

Im keen to have a go,
but my knowledge of electrickery is pretty limited.

Advice/info would be good.
Thanks.

Tony.

All you need Tony, Is a good test light ,and time ,you need to unplug the dash and make sure the bike still starts ,if so ,its all about the dash you choose to use;

Thanks Pete.

Yeah, pulled the two blue multi plugs on the 1400 (inside the headlight)
just in case the circuit board inside the speedo had other functions.
Dash seems 100% dead and unpowered, bike starts and run's fine.

I know some folk use pick-up's / sensor's with their aftermarket clocks.
Just wondered if mine are electric not cable can i use the same feed signal ?

Whats anyone else use ? Recommend ?

Got the holiday / engagement etc etc done.
Now I can get back to the bikes.

I know Acewell seem popular, but Im not a huge fan of their design / layout,

however......

THIS i like, cant find any more info about when or $ other
than a tiny pic in the back of Sheepfrightner magazine.

Probably the wrong guy to say anything but the Acewell you are looking at looks very similar to a standard gixxer thou and having fitted aftermarket and original I find the quality of the OEM is always hard to beat.

I've just fitted a set of GSXR11 (92) clocks to my Bandit and I like them, same thing you are saying about the '14 I just couldn't seem to find a decent set of Bandit clocks!, I even had an acewell to fit but chose the OEM set.

I have found if you at least go with same brand but different model the wiring is very similar on some harnesses.

Buy yourself a decent soldering iron, heatshrink and give it a crack I reckon you'll be surprised how easy it is and how satisfied you'll feel when it all works.

Thanks. I had considered other Suzuki clocks but wasnt
sure how compatable they'd be. I will see what available.

Cheers.

Im going to use an WellAce 260 on my 14.
About $150 off egay and you can wire it straight to your stock plug.

I'm trying to decide between this one http://www.kosonorthamerica.com/new/shop/motorcycle_gauges/rx-1n-speedometer-gp-style-black-face-4/ and a standard K6 GSXR gauge. If Suzuki uses the same plugs across the range (Gixer / busa) I'd be prone to go with suzuki oem though. I'll keep an eye on the thread and see what you come up with.

Have used 2 different model Acewells on 2 bikes, both been great and an easy fit, Waiting on a Koso to arrive. Get a wiring diagram for the 14 as well, they are a great help.

i wired an acewell to my z550 and it works a treat, about to put a china ebay special on the zx9. wiring diagrams and patience are very useful tools. and i dont have any experience doing that kinda stuff.

Thinking of fitting an aftermarket speedo on the Gixxer. Gonna use a small digital, just not sure what the legal requirements are for them. When I get the triples done I'll make the top clamp of the risers as one piece and have the speedo mounted in the top mount

Don't touch the Veypor, the Koso units like the RX1N and RX2N are both good units, and will work with the OEM speedo pick up. I have fitted several of both and they are pretty good quality. Any of the GSXR K series units will also work on the 14, pinout diagrams are available so you can fit them easily.
