hi this is fester, i decided to join up to your forum after meeting a few of your memebers at the supers. (kev, shaun, some other guy and the beer bong)

i have a current project that i need help with i am currently getting a Yamaha FZ 750 going as i have sold my only road going hack on so i could get a car...

one, of the many problems with inheiriting a scooter like the FZ is the age and condition of the forks and the outdated idea of a "quick tip in" front end, ie a 16" front wheel, so here is my question:

does anyone know where i can go and get help bolting a new front end onto my snotter?

Welcome mate. Are you chasing a complete new end forks and all or just a 17" wheel conversion? Obviously a complete front end would be easier. What year is yours?

I was there, I'm the good looking one of the bunch.

Have you got another front end? that would make the swap easier....

R6 front end ? Weight would be about right radial 4 spot caliper 310mm disks N even a 17 inch front end .

The R1 swap should work for a FZ

thanks for that.... as for the good looking one, you mean the 1200 gixer intercooled turbo with efi?... anywho.

i have done some research,

re- hardchroming the front fork tubes is as expensive as buying a second hand bike (any type) from the states, without postage. buying tubes from the factory costs the same, but both of theses options leave me with a 16" front wheel...

yes, cheers for the advice i will go with a complete front end from the wreckers, maybe metro in sydney...
the fz1r is easy to get hold of and has a 17" front wheel, R-1's and R-6's are everywhere and (a front end) can be obtained for a gorilla and a half.

as for the easy bolt up sitcho- the headstem bolt on the FZ750 is about 50 mm longer than late model R1 and R6...
and i just did a look around, in the workshop, the '04 R1 is the one i need. will post more details somewhere,
do i start a thread in the tech section?
