A little heat can help , just not to much. Lpg torch or even a jet lighter in a pinch.

Good work mate, I like the seat unit you're going with. I'm doing a 93 as well at the moment, haven't really got stuck in yet. As for ultra sonic. Most fuel injection places can do carbs as well or shot Stiff simon a message on here, he's in melb but has a bath and I can't imagine post would be crazy.

Hey mate, welcome aboard.

Why not let the forum tell you instead? I just got this from the FAQ link above:

SubscriptionsWhat are subscriptions?
Subscriptions are a way of keeping track of different threads or forums. You can choose how you are notified about updates - for example by having them listed in your User CP (http://www.streetfighters.com.au/usercp.php) and receiving email updates for each one.
How do I subscribe to a thread or forum?
To subscribe to a forum, click the 'Forum Tools' link above the list of threads then select 'Subscribe to Forum'. You will then have the option to choose the subscription mode for this forum. If the forum that you are subscribing to has any child forums (forums within a forum) then your subscription will be extended to these automatically.
To subscribe to a thread, click the 'Thread Tools' link at the top of the list of posts then click 'Subscribe to Thread'. You can then choose the subscription mode that you wish to use for that thread.
What subscription modes are available?
There are a number of different forum subscription modes available.

No Email Notification - lists the subscription in your User CP only. You do not receive any notifications about new posts or threads in the forum.
Daily Email Notification - sends one email a day with the new and updated threads in the forum and any sub-forums. If there are no new or updated threads in the forum or its sub-forums then you will not receive an email.
Weekly Email Notification - sends one email per week in the same way as the Daily Email Notification.
Thread Subscriptions have the same options as forum subscriptions with the following additional option:

Instant Email Notification - sends an email as soon as a new post is added to the thread. This is not sent for every reply and will only be sent once until you revisit the forums.
How do I manage Subscriptions and Folders?
Thread subscriptions can be sorted into folders for easy management. You can create as many folders as you wish by going to 'Edit Folders (http://www.streetfighters.com.au/subscription.php?do=editfolders)' in the 'SubscribedThreads' section of your User CP. To add a new folder, enter the folder name into one of the blank boxes and save the page. To delete a folder, delete the folder name. Editing a folder is done by simply editing the folder name in the list.
You can also manage your individual subscriptions by clicking 'List Subscriptions (http://www.streetfighters.com.au/subscription.php?do=viewsubscription)' under 'Subscribed Threads' in your User CP. Here you can select which subscriptions you wish to manage and delete them, move them to another folder, or change their subscription type.
Forum subscriptions are not managed through the List Subscriptions page and are shown on the User CP page where they contain the option to unsubscribe from the forum.

This is looking really good man. I am still fabing things up on the bike and not quite ready for paint on it yet. Your build makes me want to tear mine all down and start the "actual build", But I know I have somethings left to be sorted. Want to ge the engine to purr before I tear it down. So I know if the engine is going to run right. I will have to get it in to the Dyno and see if I can have it tuned.

I will get you more pics of the seat and rails tonight when I get home from work.

Looking really sweet!!! you should before you get to far and after the subframe is done have that frame painted as well.
What you planning on doing for rear sets? i hate the bricks that came on mine and want to upgrade to newer model K5 rear sets. so need to have mounting tabs welded on for that. 93 - 95 seems to be the bastard of the GSXR's.

kartras
24-05-2012, 06:29 PM
Yup sure is a Bastard for aftermarket off the shelf bits. I dont much like the rearsets either but what else can I do.....this build is already costin too much....sh1t I sound like the Missus....Got to get the controls and new brake hoses fitted now...Have to see how many cables need extending...probably all of them.I have an acewell ace- 2853 digital speedo/tacho ordered with a brushed aluminium pod/surround...still not sure what to do for a light unit..I really wanted a LSL urban/MT03 light unit but they are exy...I have an acerbis twin light unit that may have to do until i get some more funds

Still havent decided on the rear end Yet. I aint too sure whether to use the Monster seat or i have picked up a ZX6R unit ( bent subbie).
If I get the subbie straightened I am leaning to using the Zx6r unit. hope to get into that soon.

The new mounts for the subframe look sweet, The top looks like it will do the job nicely

Maybe trim/grind the new lower brackets you have fabbed flat (at the top right shown in the pic) where it meets the new lower subframe to get a straight weld & to meet up with the shape of the tubing better maybe?
The lower rounded section blends into the frame nicely but the curve does not suit the subframe tubing as much

What headlight are you going with?

Yeah I get what your saying.............thanx for the input.
I have marked one out on some 10 ml ally ,as per my template. I will see what it looks like when finished......but i reckon you may be right...................I may be able to modify a little.....I am wrong again :(

I have a mt-03 type unit ,,,,i got some brackets that I am not really happy with...so I guess I will make my own brackets.
I have an Acewell unit to fit so that will determine how I fit the light unit.

I dont think there is really a wrong & right as it will be strong enough either way but I am a fussy cunt & thats just the way I would do it, Maybe I am wrong?
The top line I did is a bit wonky but you get the idea>

So you have not decided which light setup you are going for & which Acewell did you go with?

I dont know which headlight but I think you will need something modern to go with the sharp lines of the bike, Any kind of round headlight will look old & out of place but I think

Considering there is a curve on the lower subframe mount the braket you made looks nice on there, Could not see the curve bit you were working with so cutting it straight would have been wrong

What do you plan on doing with the tail to tank section? Might just get away with covering the lower rear tank section somehow?

i would try and keep the subbie the same colour as the main frame mate otherwise it will look like its not meant to be there

I am lookin for some stainless headers/exhaust manifold ( depends on which side of the atlantic you hail). I have heard a bandit1200 one may fit.....anyone got any ideas on which models may be interchangeable with my 93 750 wp?? or if anyone can share the dimensions of their b1200 headers?.......dont think I can afford a custom exhaust but if i thought another models header may fit I could start trawlin the ole bay of E's.

I have a '91 GSXR750 sitting in the garage (future project) which I squeezed a set of Delkevic B12 headers onto. They fit with a bit of effort as they're a bit wider than the 750 pipes. I'll get into the garage in the next few days and snap some pics. Cylinder spacing is the same (or close enough) on all that era Suzuki GSXR750, 1100, and B12 models.

Bike's looking good. The only thing I don't like is that for the lower mount you used a single bolt for both ends, which means that you have no triangulation. The usual force will obviously be downwards so shouldn't be an issue, however if you hit a big enough bump I would assume that the way it is mounted the top mount will act as a pivot point as the two lower mounting points are not at their longest distance from each other as they are. If this were to happen you are going to put undue stress ont he sub-frame and it may give you an issue in the long run.

PS. I am half jet-lagged from being half way around the world right now, so you could tell me to go get fucked as you don't care for my opinion :D

A few piccys and measurements would be great whenever you get a chance. Thanx.

Yeah I had the same thoughts bout hitting a bump and me and my 100kg+ bulk being launched. When I am happy with the brackets and know exactly how I am going to finish the brackets I will probably get the brackets welded to the subbie and leave the bolts in for looks. This would hopefully fix that problem.

Jet lag is a bitch you dont know if you are coming or going. I will be in touch bout the number plate surround when the woman in me has figured out which colour she wants. She had her heart set on black

Looking good mate.

Did you say you had a monster tail seat unit also?

If so do you want to sell it?

I've got an idea for a new look for mine.

I have a monster seat and a seat cowl for the pillion position like so:

If you are interested send us a PM. The seat could probably do with a recover as the vinyl is starting to show signs of wear
