hey all im chasing a set of radials for my 06 R1 forks i can get a R1 set for around $200 bucks,

i dont have any experiance with radials... are they interchangable between models?

and can i fit the later model 6 pots? will the master cylinder need changing?

i have seen a few sets of ZXR and CBR "TOKICO" calipers for the 50-100 mark.

who can help me here?

All Nissin Radial and Tokico Radial calipers are 108mm pitch between mounting bolts, they all have the same offset of 22.5mm.

All 108mm calipers of a wide range of bikes will fit all bike that can accommodate 108mm calipers the only thing that differs is the rotor size from the donor bike which dictates the radius of which they were originally made.

For Example If you try to install 108mm radial calipers from a K7/K8 GSXR 1000 which has a rotor of 310mm you would have to fit 5mm spacers to accommodate your 320mm K4/K6 R1.. and any other combo you want etc etc

Because you have a 320mm rotor you can pretty much fit any other 108mm caliper you would like as they all have to spaced out anyway.

Brembo is no good for you as they have 100mm pitch and the 6 pot R1's on later models have 130mm pitch so there a no go too..

Hope this helps Mate..

Further Info..

Note the 'caliper spacer height' on this chart is what I'm talking about..

Here are the spacers I fitted to the TL after fitting a K10 Busa fork setup, to suit my 320mm rotors as the Busa's are originally 310mm.. for reference your spacers do not have to be shouldered like mine, that's just how I had them made.

mate i think you are pretty much the most helpfull person in the world!!!!!

i think i have it, but just to be super sure....

any NISSIN or TOKICO radials will fit my R1 forks?

will i need to space the rotors in or out?

Lol Cheers

So far as I know all 108mm calipers will fit your bike in particular any on the list and basically any that have 320mm and under rotors which is pretty much all of them. It just depends on what bike they came from so just do your research and find what year model and make your donor bike is and find out what size rotors they have and fit yours accordingly.

The spacers are only required to space the donor calipers 'out' from the centre of the axle radially to match the radius of your R1 rotor (Being 320mm) so your rotors don't foul inside the new calipers..

You won't have to space the rotors in or out as for now all bikes with a 108mm pitch caliper setup for some reason or another have a 22.5mm offset so its basically get spacers made and bolt on and ride..

Some bikes you won't even have to bother with spacers for example if you purchased 08-11 Honda CBR 1000 which have 320mm rotors, they will bolt directly to your R1..

Its really just more and more research regarding your taste in what the calipers look like and then if your really picky 108mm calipers are all not identical with their internals regarding piston size and lining etc etc..

clear as mud lol..

I've got a set of 04 gsxr 1000 calipers. They've had the "tokico" ground off, and they need to be repainted - when i crashed the bike, they got covered in brake fluid. No road rash, just brake fluid ate the paint.$100 if you want em.

Gitzy, do you have any dimensional drawings for a set of triples off a K4 Gixxer?

Hey Jules, no sorry Mate only dimensions I have are the centres of the fork and the offset of the stem in the above chart..

Hadn't even sse the chart, I only saw the pic with the forks, wheels etc...

Cool, that will do me for now. Would there been anything similar around for swinging arms too?

shit sorry Hoolagin....

after hearing Gitzy's insperational words i was straight on to ebay and chalked a black set of 06 gixxer1000
out of the US, otherwise i would have been all over them!

hey Gitzy, is there anywhere that sell spacers? i see yours have a collar, can u just use some round alloy drilled out?

and do i need to change the bolts to longer ones? 10mm shouldent be too much of a drama should it???

Gitzy

I had my spacers made in the UK by the man who made that chart above Sam Matthewman.

But I think for sure you could get away with some round alloy drilled out.. try and keep it a tightish tolerance though, but thats basically all they are.. my were only shouldered as Sam had these in stock as he does kits for front end conversions and the shoulder fits in most calipers, I would say your better off without them anyway as some calipers don't have the recess to accommodate the shoulder I just new they would work on my choice that's all..

I opted for longer bolts as they were cost effective and neither my forks nor my calipers which were from different donor bikes had bolts with them, but as long as there is enough meat biting onto your standard ones i would be happy with them..

dont get all wet , its just a few bob of ali n 10 min on the lathe. Just make sure you get the dimensions right on your sketch.

Rite so it looks like the lower legs I acquired must be later than 06 as the caliper bolts center to center are 130mm
So for the 6 pots...

Does anyone know if these legs will fit in my 01 outer tubes?

check the size of the fork seals and you should be able to work it out.
